Assistant Professor
POSITION: Animal Biotechnologist
LOCATION: Department of Animal Science, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This full-time position is an 11 month tenure-track assignment with 70% research and 30% teaching appointment, but subject to change as the needs of the department change over time. The successful candidate is expected to establish an outstanding research program in animal biotechnology and establish an extramurally funded and fundamental program that utilizes functional genomics, proteomics or metabolomics. This faculty member would help bridge programs in the department that are strong in ruminant nutrition and applied aspects of growth or reproduction with our existing genetics programs. The research of this individual could help define molecular mechanisms that lead to superior carcasses in meat animals, tools that predict growth efficiency, or develop new approaches to achieve gains in animal health or productivity. The candidate will be involved with teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the candidate’s discipline, and also contribute to the recruiting and advising effort in the department.
QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements include a Ph.D. in Animal Science, Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Animal Nutrition or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with Post-Doctoral experience. Documented interest and experience in animal industries is required. Preference will be given to individuals with good communication skills and strong interest in teaching. Other desired characteristics are good interpersonal skills, evidence of leadership, and academic excellence.
RANK: Assistant Professor
SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
