Another horse scenario

I agree with Soapweed, but I am also going to stick up for RoperAB
here.

He is just on a different level with his horsetraining methods.
That's ok and Soapweeds way of doing things is okay too.
It is just where we are and what we want. I have close friends
who think of horses just as AB does. In fact, I think that way.
Problems with horses are usually man made, they aren't born
that way. I've seen too much to know that problems are CAUSED.
Ray Hunt says, "Horses forgive but they never forget." That's
quite a statement. The ones that don't forgive are the ones that
don't work in most ranch situations.

Our daughter picked up a nice horse (she thought) for us at one of
the sales during the Black Hills Stock Show. Mr. FH has just started
to work with this horse. The horse is scared. He came in yesterday
and told me about it and he said, "I don't know what people do to
the horses to make them so afraid." He spent 4 days with Tom
Wagoner and Tom told him some things to help these horses.
One is to get your fingers in their mouth and play with their mouth.
It helps a lot to relax them and he talked about what goes on
with a babies mouth when they are with their mothers. What
Roper AB is talking about it this type of thing. It does exist, it
does help and you can make horses change by learning and doing
what can help them make a change.

We had a horse that wasn't good with his feet. Hard to pick them
up and he leaned on the farrier something terrible. Mr. FH took that
horse along. Tom worked that horses mouth. He says the mouth
is connected to the feet. When he got the horse comfy in the mouth, guess what? You could pick up his feet easily. Another thing, this
horse was a bit hard to bridle, I mean you had to open his mouth
when you put the bit in. Now you hold the bit up and he takes it.
What a deal...just because of a person who understands equine
communtication. It is real and it can make a difference.

Ranchers have more to do than spend all this time with a horse
that is a tool. There is nothing wrong with that. It is just the
way it is. That is their level and they are happy being there.
Horsemen are on a different level. I understand that and I hope my post has helped others understand that too.
