Another little tip--This one about ATM machines

I received this email this evening. Thought I would share it here. Perhaps someone will check it out and say it isn't true. In the meantime, here it is.

PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an
ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.
For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.
The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the
ATM card you placed in the machine.
The machine will still give you the money you requested,
but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched
to help you. This information was recently broadcasted on FOX TV
and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

Please pass this along to everyone possible

Congratulations Faster Horses! you have just posted one of the most forwarded hoaxes from 2006!

Just remember that 99% of the sound good - feel good crap that we get forwarded in e-mails is pure BS! Some of it does have entertainment value but no-one in my family sends me anything anymore without checking it out first as I constantly return the url of a hoax & urban legend site!

The ATM Reverse-PIN Trick
The most-forwarded Net rumor during the final months of 2006 purported to offer a tidbit of esoteric knowledge about the workings of ATMs, namely that there is a hidden safety feature whereby users can quietly alert police of an attempted robbery by entering their PIN (personal identification number) backwards. Let's hope no one has tried it. The reverse-PIN system does exist on paper and its inventor claims it would reduce crime with widespread use, but the technology has yet to be implemented anywhere in the real world.

I believe it is true Faster horses...... to prove it, go to your ATM, with draw as much as you can, several times, entering your pin backwards. drop all the cash into an envelope, and mail it to me. I will let you know how soon the police come to my home.

I am sure the cash will be kept as evidence and non returnable.....
