Thanks, Denny. We have just enough Red Angus and Gelbvieh in the background of some of our cows, that a red calf sure shows up now and then. They will make good candidates this fall to put in the Sandhills Cattle Association annual carcass contest.

We could sure use more than just a promising green tinge to our grass. We need the real thing, as our remaining hay supply is getting alarmingly low.

Our hay pile is getting low also we do have enough for about 3 weeks yet but thats it.We've been building some new fence lately to keep the cows in.Along the highway we went with post's 10' apart and 6 strands of barbed wire.It sure looks nice.

I got so tired of stretching and fixing wires along our shelterbelts, where they love to reach through and get a bite of green grass, that I strung a single hot wire on the inside of that fence. Gallagher makes an insulator that connects to two of your existing barb wires that sets the hot wire about a foot inside of your barb wire fence and it works like a dream. I haven't stretched a single wire along that fence all Spring. There's nothing worse on my blood pressure that cows in the tree groves. I'll probably live 10 extra years now. :D
