I watched his press conference and it was pure politics - no CHANGE there. He tried to have it both ways - hoping that quitting the church would satisfy some people, but doing it without alienating those people in the black churches. When he's getting over 90% of the black vote just because he's black - well, he can't take a chance on pssing them off, can he?don said:so does obama gain or lose votes by disowning two people who have counselled him for twenty years? this looks pretyy politically expedient but what does it say about his character. past and present? i tink you'll elect him and he'll be a weak president but not as bad as bush.
He started out good, but I thought it ended up being a pretty poor performance by him. He stammered and stuttered a lot and really seemed disorganized - not at all like himself.
He never said that he was quitting because he didn't agree with that type of crap going on in a church. It was pretty clear to me that he wouldn't have a problem with going to that church if he wasn't running for president.
In fact, he even used the media attention that the church is getting as one of his reasons for quitting - so that those poor, pitiful 'worshipers' wouldn't keep getting hounded by the press. He never once condemned the people who jumped up clapping, hooping and hollering at all of the racist crap spewed from the pulpit. He just talked about all of the "good people" in that church.
Nothing but political ass-kissing. It SHOULD cost him votes, but probably won't. He'll get a free ride again - just because he's black. Affirmative action at it's finest. :???:
