Maybe they believe that raw milk is healthier? That the "lactose intolerance" epidemic is a product of the pasteurisation process? Like you say it should be their choice. Government has of course had it's ear bent by corporate interests who would lose out if farmers could sell raw milk direct to consumers. I grew up on raw milk and it certainly never did me any harm, or any other farm kid or farm family that I know for that matter.Silver said:I don't understand their need to drink raw milk, but it seems it should be their choice. Seems funny the gov't is so worried about that but they'll leave those 'head shops' in Vancouver alone :?

We hand milk a cow for our family milk here for 4 or 5 months every year and have had no problem. Got milk from the neighbor from his cow once, I got so sick I thought I was going to die. I would be much more confident of the safety of hand milked single batch processed milk than the bulk tank version.
A bulk tank raw milk problem could make a lot of people sick. It all depends on what lengths the dairy owner is prepared to go to monitoring and ensuring a quality safety control system.

Dylan, that is exactly the problem with raw milk. We grew up HAND milking cows for family use, running a separator, the whole works. It is not a food safety issue, it is a child welfare concern
