I have my fingers crossed for mostly rain here Oldtimer. It could be a wet one for a few days. Might even thunder and hail a little tomorrow sometime.

OT do you think the high line is going to get anything out of this system? A nice rain would sure be welcome. Shame a person waits this long to start calving then get snow since we didn't have much all winter.

I kind of think the heavy moisture is going to stay south of the Missouri-- they are now saying 100% chance of rain tonite and 90% tomorrow-- but the Canuck forecasters are only calling for a 30% chance for Rockglen...Sounds like it will cool down and blow- most we get will be in the form of rain.......

I always like the moisture- but I would just as soon we didn't get the ice-- Just got rid of enough that I started riding the little 3 year old black giving her a little experience calving.....

Kind of looks like this snowstorm is going to be not much for us--East winds howling about 30 mph and we got a little shower about 4AM, but for now most of the moisture is still going south of us-- I can see wicked looking clouds down on the Missouri Breaks- looks like they are getting moisture...

Temp is cooling down- only 47, which is hard to take after yesterdays beautiful day-- it got to 74...I hauled some culls into the sale and worked up a sweat even in my shirt sleeves.....

I need to run into the sale today- couple of bull sales and the kid has been looking at some registered heifers that are selling today- and at the price they're going to sell for I need to go tie his hands down!!!!

OT let us know how much those hiefers sell for. We bought a group of Reg. PB black angus yesterday at a sale. Think we got a good deal!

They sold between $910- $1050- cost an extra $50 to buy the papers-- weighed between 800- 900 lbs-- Probably not a bad buy- great quiet cow herd that I know well- that raises some quiet easy to work bulls, but they are much framier than I like- lot of old Traveller bloodlines- and no Emulation or EXT- but still too big of cows....Kid ran each group up to $900 but wouldn't go anymore....I talked to the buyer that bought them and he said he's bought them for the same guy for the last 5 years- so I don't know how high he'd go as we pretty much were the last bidder on each group.....

They sold a few older cows too- which he really pours the feed to that weighed in the 1700 lb range- so thats the reason I was sitting on the kids hands-- the old culls I sold weighed 1240 and they were in great condition- more my size of cow.....

OT- We paid $1000 a head for the hiefers we bought. These are real good breeding quality hiefers. And we dont have to pay extra to transfer the papers. We ve been raising PB limos for a few years but sometimes its hard to get bull calves out of those Limos that have some nut under them. This is why we have made the switch to PB Black Angus. As my dad would say "once you go black you'll never go back"

3 days of rain, rain, rain, sleet, "snain" (as the demodriver calls it) and more rain!! The mountains are dumped on in the white stuff so that will start our spring/summer irrigating off on the right foot, but the cold temps could sure use some work!! At least we did not get the 7-15" of the white stuff that the local news forecast was calling for!
