Another untimely death

We received word today of the death of one of our hunters.
He was only in his 50's and was found dead in his home.
Because of his work, there may be people here who knew him,
or knew of his company.

He was a good man and made quite a contribution to society.
It was a shock to all of us.
Here is a little background about him.

Rodney Allen, Lewiston, MN.
Rodney and Steve were primarily in the business of manufacturing electronic circuit boards. They had some other related businesses too. Rodney was the fireball that solved problems and kept their plants running - a real problem solver. His nickname wasn't "Rocket" for nothing. They made the lower volume stuff and let Motorola and the like make the high volume stuff like for automotive and for appliances. Their business, Riverside Electronics, Winona, MN manufactured for JD, Case-IH and for a number of years if you bought an electric fencer made in the US, the electronics in it were made by Riverside. They made the guidance stuff for Minn-Kota, the boat motor folks.

Steve and two other partners started the business 25 years ago. It was fun to watch. They all risk all to get it going. Had Steve stayed with Deere, he'd been fired as he was by Honeywell early in his career. Just too much of an entrepreneur! One by one Steve bought out those original partners but added Rodney as a 10% partner.

Neb.)-Bicycling Group To Stay In Chadron, Wednesday, After Death of Group Member

By: Chad Franzen Posted at: 07/21/2010 11:07 AM

About thirty bicyclists, riding from Providence, RI to Seattle, WA will be arriving in Chadron with heavy hearts, this afternoon, after one of the group’s members was killed in an accident, yesterday.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Paige Hicks of Chesterfield, Mo., was struck and killed Tuesday near Vetal by a semi trailer hauling a combine.

Troopers say Hicks was stopped on a hill on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 18 when she was struck by the semi. She was reportedly checking messages on her cell phone.

The driver of the truck, 45-year-old Scott Wenzel of Wessington Springs, was not injured.

Hicks was serving as a route leader with a group called Bike and Build, which raises funds for affordable housing projects and brings attention to affordable housing causes. The riders were making the 103 mile trip from Winner to Martin, South Dakota, yesterday, when the accident occurred.

The group will be staying at St. Patrick’s Church, this evening. Church employee Linda Yeradi says the group will be transported to Chadron from Martin by shuttle, because of the accident, and is expected to arrive at about 1 p.m.
