Antelope Buck...for Mike

Faster horses

We went to Alzada today to pick up our grandson. There were
quite a few antelope out. I took this with my digital camera; a big
zoom lens would have been much better. One thing we saw that
was very strange~a bunch of antelope fawns kind of milling around
together with no mothers in sight. They were babies, but larger than
first borns. Never saw anything like that before. This buck acted
strange too. We wondered if he had been hit by a car perhaps.

FH, I don't have any particular fondness for antelope, as we always have literally hundreds of the dang things around here, but everybody likes baby animals. Even a cold hearted fella like me.

Here are two pictures of the same fawn, just moments apart. I am sure it was less than an hour old, as it came right up to my pickup as if it was confused as to what was going on. Usually any of them that are even an hour old can run off like H$ll.

Maybe it was the phase of the moon, our deer here were actin wierd last night and today. Yesterday evenin, we hauled Toilet Paper to town, and rode with a friend to a barrel race. on the way back to the house Mr Lilly almost ran over a deer.......then, around Midnight when we got back and he come to town to pick us up....on our way home, one was beside the road.......she couldn't make up her mind....did about 4 circles.....before finally decidin the bushes were better than the pavement......seen several up durin the day today...and they were more bold than usual too.......hmmm strange.

But I agree that one there in that pic looks like he has a bad headache or somethin LOL

Yes Mike, is is nice and green here for once. But remember this is shortgrass country. You did know that baby antelope are only 4 inches high when they are born. The grass is clear up to his hocks already.
