Anti Palin people

This could really freak some of you guys out....but take a deep breath and listen carefully.

I fully understand why you don't like here.
The pop culture definition of "smart" is deeply embedded in our minds.
Even though the most intelligent people in history are known to have any number of idiosyncrasies that were off-putting we still believe the clean cut smooth talker represents intelligence.
Never mind the fact that Obama's coalitions of power are falling apart and the life works of many people before him are being wasted, people still cling to the idea of him being a smart person.
Only the way he talks and presents himself counts to these people, not the results of what he is doing.
In the academic world the ability to assimilate and repeat information not, the accuracy of the information is most important.

Ok, here is the shocking part.
I understand how stupid you guys believe people who support Palin are, and I know how dumb you think she is.
And I recognize that some of you don't dislike her but think she is unelectable or just an easy target.
But what you fail to see, because you lack prospective, is that her supporters understand how you feel.
They may not be able to articulate it in a way that impresses you and in some cases it's on an unconscious level.
But make no mistake about it they understand that people like you don't like her because of who she represents.

They know that more than anything else it's the social issues that bother you.
They understand that many of you look down your noses at them and from their prospective there is very little difference between you and the left.
Huge numbers of people will never again support some like you again.
The GOP burned them so badly that they will either cleanse the party of people, like you or walk away.
I know, I know, the GOP will never win anything with people like Pailn in front.
So if these people don't get a seat at the table then why shouldn't they just let the RINOs, blue dog and leftists go at it while they sit it out?

It may seem witty when you accuse her supporters of wanting to make America "Jesusland" and take up the same talking points as the media, but your only setting yourself up as another enemy.
When you accuse people of being something they are not you discredit yourself in their eyes.

Here is the bottom line.
Not everybody who defends Palin is a "fanboy" or "leg humper", for me personally I can't stand the way you people take on the left's talking points about her as if you came up with them on your own.
And the people who do support Palin because they believe in her don't deserve to be called names and be ridiculed for it.
You guys are shaping up to be this up coming elections useful idiots.
Not because you don't support Palin but because your views of her are driven by cynicism and bias.
If there were 1,000 other people in the national spotlight who share her world view but aced every interview and never took notes on their hands you would still find something to justify trashing them all.

And in the end I know this isn't going to provoke any thoughtful replies, just the same old smart ass remarks and empty anecdotes.
But at least you people will understand that the animosity will not go away when and if your magic candidate even shows up.
Christian, conservative, traditional value types have backed progressive republicans for years now.
Now that your wing of the party is openly telling them their votes are welcome but everything they stand for is an embarrassment it will be a very long time before they hold their noses for another McCain.

emotional IQ

most are fooled by fake empathy, but sooner or later they recognize genuine empathy.

Empathy, which literally translates as in feeling, is the capability to share another being's emotions and feelings.

Perspective-taking

Just as empathy was conceptually distinguished from sympathy, beginning with the early definitions of empathy in the 1800s, the term may be in the process of being distinguished again, this time from “perspective taking.” Due both to the conceptual confusions between the emotional and cognitive aspects of empathy and to an emerging sense of the differences in the functional aspects of the two phenomena, more-recent discussions have distinguished between empathy (as the more intuitive emotional aspect) and perspective-taking (as the more cognitive aspect).[26] Some authors, however, see perspective taking as one of the dimensions of empathy.

Psychopathy

Some psychopaths are able to detect the emotions of others with such a theory of mind and can mimic caring and friendship in a convincing manner, often in an effort to exploit others. While some psychopaths can detect what others are feeling, they do not experience any reciprocal emotion or sympathy. However, some research indicates that components of neural circuits involved in empathy may also be dysfunctional in psychopathy.[48]

empathy is a very interesting subject, and explains quite a bit about how we interact with people and how others interact with us.

One of the characteristics of the narcissistic is a lack of empathy. This makes sense, since the narcissist is typically concerned with the other only in so far as they can do something for him

The unconscious equation is, "I need you because of what you can do for me" and "what you can do for me" primarily involves enhancing my self esteem

I have a theory that those that are fooled by fake empathy, or truly Narcissistic people, will also misread true empathy for narcissism.

A person can truly be interested in associating with others feelings, emotions etc, and be mistaken for a self centered individual.

just an opinion.

Larry, there is alot of truth to what you say, however, it is generalized and yet may just point at party labels, ie Dems versus Republicans. Bush spoke like a bumbling idiot but it is the actions he took while in office as a Governor and as a President that were most important to me. Not everyone is a great orator. Palin, also comes across as somewhat of a dimwit. So, set that aside and analyze her decisions/actions and go from there. If after an individual has performed that exercise and the result is that they do not favor her then they should not be ridiculed but respected for their views instead, even though they may not mirror yours. Calling these people idiotic or questioning their IQ does nothing more than question the name callers mentality, IMHO. :)

I agree with you Liveoak. It's much like the ones that disagreed with obama for the policies that he outlined and his background before the election. All of a sudden anybody that disagreed with him was a racist, birther etc.

With Palin, she has not outlined any type of platform really. It was the McCain platform that the was judged upon, and well, her family etc.

How often do you see the MSM mention her political beliefs. Hard to make an informed decision if all you here is about her stupidity.

We have to remember that the people on this forum, in the most cases, have an interest in politics. Most voters are uninformed. All they hear is the MSM, and they never take the time to investigate any further than that.

I think that is why you are seeing a blip in Palin's popularity. She's receiving more coverage on the MSM now. And she is representing herself.

I used to think Palin would be a straight shooter and turn this country around......... but, by running down to Texas and endorsing Rick Perry as governor, has me wondering if she isn't sold out to the "global government agenda".

Perry is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations..... and anyone who is a member is in step with creating a global government. Obama doesn't appoint anyone on his numerous "councils" who isn't. I was hoping our MO governor wasn't a member of the CFR but by his recent appt to the governors council (or whatever it's proper name is) by Obama leaves no doubt as to where his interests lie.

You have to stop looking at someone as a Republican or Democrat and you have to look at their morals, character and integrity....... watch their actions and what they do........ not what they say. Anybody can say anything, but is it empty rhetoric or do they do exactly as they say they will??

When she backed McCain after the way his people threw her under the bus, that was enough for me. I know she would be better than mccain or obama. That said this country is in trouble and deserves real change.

We need politicians that care about the people that pay the bills. We need some common sense people elected that want to turn this country around.

The fact is to do the above the people we need can only have an allegiance to this country and its citizens. No political bed buddies. No favors to pay off. The only thing they need to care about is keeping their word to the TAX PAYERS not the ones that will vote for them as long as they keep the handouts coming.

The people that demand and expect the handouts are the ones that have us in this mess and are the ones that make up obamahs base.

I am all for taking care of the weak that have no control over their situation We should care for the wounded who have fought for this country. We should care for the handicapped and Downs syndrome children.

Go to your local food stamp office for a day and watch what shows up. Or go to the local SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE watch who is applying for and being rewarded S.S.I. payments. There is a constant barrage of people that are to fat and lazy to work along with ones who drink and drug up their Government checks and food stamp cards.

The BIBLE says if a man wont work he should not eat. We need to apply this to the payment structure these people demand.

Again no person should be voted in who will not take an oath to up hold the Constitution intact and also wants to cut waste and let the TAX PAYER OFF THE HOOK FROM ALL OF THE ENTITLEMENTS!
