Any fire reports 8-1

I spent from 1:00 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. up on a hill watching. There was not a lot of lightning, but enough to worry a feller. It started to sprinkle and we ended up getting almost a tenth of an inch during the night. That's the best rain we've had for a month.

Not much going on around here right now, supposed to be a fair chance of rain this afternoon, it is raining between here and Soapweed right now. The smoke has cleared some today. A fire south of Livingston burned three homes and some outbuildings Sunday night, not sure what is going on there right now either.

soapweed---had lots and lots of lightning here lastnight, too!!! Lit up the entire room as I ATTEMPTED to get some 'shut-eye'!!

anyway, temps are supposed to be cooling down somewhat (right now we are 56) and not much of a breeze, so hopefully this will help out the firefighters out near Livingston!!!

Watched the news lastnight and my heart broke when I saw the fires eating up Glacier National Park!!!

Happy to report, no fires around here!

I went over to Reserve, to pay the butane bill, and pick up some fair entry cards for my 4-H livestock kids. Just before ya get to town, there's a small creek, Starkweather, that you have to cross. When I went over, there was just a little trickle in it. After being in town about an hour or so, I headed back home. Starkweather was flooding like crazy! Where it comes through the fairgrounds (and washed out the walking bridge from the livestock & exhibit barns to the rodeo arena several years ago) it was probably running 7' up the bank. Not sure where the big bunch of water came from, but it was between here and there. Only got a sprinkle here at home.

But, the mountain is gone again, so I suspect we'll have some more before the day's over.

Hope no one else has any fires, either, and are finally getting some well-deserved rest from them!

Finally I know where the smoke was coming from. Mom said she could see the flames on that fire a couple nights ago.

I saw the smoke billowing up and knew it had to be somewhere around the border near Glacier.

We are having very light showers and cool weather here. It is great weather for cattle, and not great for fires to get going. Maybe a reprieve for a few days. Going to get toasty again later this week.

We had some welcome rain today, up to 4 tenths at the neighbors.
Not that much right at our house, but perhaps more in the pastures.
It works that way around here lots of times. It only got to 63 degrees,
The rain came right straight down, no wind with it. It was absolutley
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
