Any Nurses out there?

Do NOT apply to the open wound.....around the wound, but leave an area around the edges clean!! How big is this wound and how did it happen and WHY are you using a steroid cream??? just asking, since I am a nurse and these are questions I would ask if you came to my ER!! Also, remember that steroid creams can thin the skin over time, so limit the use!!! Also, if the wound was caused by animal bite, hoof or by any metal, then you need to make sure you are up to date on your tetanus shot!!!

Thanks Ranchwife
Because of older injuries I have a pretty good stock in the house of prescription Percocet, anti-inflamatory dope and three different types of steriod creams.
The first colt I went to take out tismorning started bucking just before I was really in the saddle. I just swung on him but I couldnt get my right foot in the stirrup. See I had both feet froze years ago and I really mind the cold in my feet. When its cold I have to wear winter boots to ride because of the poor circulation in my feet.
Anyway he started bucking and I couldnt hunt up that off side stirrup. Double swirl some bitch dumped me off pretty good in the driveway.
Im not really cut, im just all scraped up and bleeding a bit from my landing on the gravel.
Got a bad leg with steel in it and thats all swollen. Legs and knees scun all up and swollen.
Before I was dumped off I must have came down on the horn because I have a really big scrape on the backside of my leg. This is the worst because I got back on him and rode him but I could only go about a 1/4 of a mile and it just hurt to bad and I had to call it quits. This all happened earlier and now stuff hurts worse.
Okay besides Percocet, anti inflamatory pills and steroid cream around thecuts what else can I do so I can ride tommorow?
Also that damn Percocet doesnt have any snap to it like it used to.
God its an awful thing to get old. Everything hurts worse when your old! Im no friggen good anymore!
What are your thoughts on cortizone? Im thinking about going to town and getting it injected into a bunch of my joints.

hubby tore up some of the muscles in his back about 2 years ago and has gone in on 3 seperate occassions for cortisone injections directly into the muscle of his back to help him get through the tough times!! He swears by them....also, maybe oral prednisone would be in order..they call is a medrol-dose-pak!! Talk to your doc!! You start off on pretty high dose and then slowly ween down til you are off the medication, but it really does work!! Has some side effects..hubby had a hard time sleeping, got "moon faced" and it affected his appetite, but he was able to move around without wincing and that made all the difference in the world!!! As for getting through tomorrow, a nice hot tub/bath and some mineral ice or icy/hot would be good...alternate the heat with ice every few hours to keep the inflammation down...remember that tooooo much ibuprofen is also not good for you!! have you tried aleve??? If not, give 'er a try and let me know how you are doing! Best of luck to ya...know how tough it can be being inpain and still knowing that the work must be done..watched the hubby go through this time and time again!
