Hey, I'm back in the saddle! (well, not quite.

) But I do have a new
knee. I was dismissed Thursday afternoon, but by Friday late
afternoon, it seemed to have swolled quite a bit and and couldn't get
it down, so this morning we spent in the emergency room. They gave
me some antibiotic, but they weren't sure it was really infected; I
had a lot of arthritic spurs both in and around my knee and so it
was inflammed before the surgery and that my have had something
to do with it. Anyway, now I have all these important excercises
to do that will take up a lot of my time. But I have to do them, of
course, or I will have a stiff knee forever. It's stiff right now because
of the swelling...but hopefully that will be better tomorrow.
The surgeon came into the emergency room to see me and he's
pretty cool. He said, "I'm an old time doctor, if you need to get ahold
of me, you just call the hospital and tell them you are my patient and to
have me paged. You can get ahold of me ANY TIME." So that was very
comforting. He has a really good reputation around here for being
a top surgeon.
Thanks, gcreek, for calling today. Sorry we missed the call, but
thanks for leaving a message. We'll give you a call soon and I'll get
back with you on the hay questions. I haven't forgotten!
I wish everyone good weather and great health!
Thanks for thinking of me. I hope the worst is behind me. They did
x-ray my right knee and it is as bad as the left. That surgery is scheduled for Jan. 17, but we'll see how this goes. Interesting the ER doctor
said the big hospitals won't do just one knee if both need done anymore;
they do them both at the same time!
