Anybody Need Heifers?

Fall of '08-were just about 2-1 heifers to bulls on the first 50 calves. I'd be perfectly happy if all the calves were heifers-good replacements will usually outsell steers. haven't had them this lopsided since '86-we had 43 bull calves out of the first 50 that year. I imagine will get closer to 50/50 before it's all said and done.

I started out the same way, but eventually bulls caught up and ended up a few bulls ahead. Thats on a hundred calves. I agree that replacements are bringing at least as much as the steers. (how many calves was that again Shawn? :) )

At 2/3's done, we are running 2/3's bulls. Biggest calves ever this spring and so far no calving problems.

Only one calf that i have to bottle feed because its momma has hardware and looked like death warmed over before she finally dropped a big, healthy bull calf. Now that she's calved, she's starting to improve again. As soon as she gains a bit more flesh back, she will have a ride to town.

Calf thinks I make a real fine Mr. Mom!!! Comes running across the field when it sees me coming with the bottle.
