flounder, that is pretty scary stuff. We all know this attitude of the one man rule in our current government is pervasive, but this is on just too many levels.

We are becoming more like China than China like us. We are just helping the redistribution of our national wealth to them. They are redistributing propaganda techniques, torture techniques, intimidation techniqes, the rule of authority over the rule of law, lying to the public, hiding the truth, political graft, etc.......

All we have is a "trust me, I am doing things in your best interest" while the opposite seems to be true.

Thank you Austin!

I'll take that as your admission that Japan's posiiton is to accept beef from the United States without having it bse tested. YET YOU ARE STILL ARGUING HOW WE COULD BE SHIPPING BEEF TO JAPAN IF WE WERE TESTING WHILE WE ARE SHIPPING THEM BEEF WITHOUT TESTING????

WHERE THE HELL IS THE LOGIC????

You blamers keep arguing in circles that get smaller and smaller until you disappear. Then you'll pick the new "FLAVOR OF THE MONTH BLAME" and unsuccesfully argue it until that argument disappears in the face of the facts.

As usual, you jump to unfounded conclusions. You should read the news more. Japan is now saying to close loopholes OR test. We are not shipping any beef to Japan. We could of had this all done with two years ago, and according to NCBA, every producer would have $350 more per cow in their pocket.

YOU JUST GOT DONE SAYING "YES" WHEN I ASKED IF CARGILL AND TYSON WERE CURRENTLY SHIPPING BEEF TO JAPAN. NOW YOU SAY "WE ARE NOT SHIPPING ANY BEEF TO JAPAN".

WHICH WAY IS IT????

I thought NCBA had no credibility? Now you are using their numbers TIMES TWO (another illusion) because it supports your immediate bias? How Clintonian!

Scott, Quit trying to play dumb. You know that Cargill and Tyson both are shipping beef to Japan from Canada and you know dang well that the USDA has gotten the USA locked out of Japan with the faulty job the inspectors were doing.

Have you totally lost it?

Wow, dumbing up twice in one post. Why am I not surprised? Mike addressed your first, guess I'll do the second.... SH, do you think that $175/cow was for an indefinite period of time? Did it occur to you that it just possibly could be $175/cow/year? Just maybe? Do ya think?

You're a dandy

This line of logic has a flaw in it. They are shipping from Canada into Japan, and it is untested. However, the reason why they are accepting it is because we have other safeguards in place which the Japanese feel negates some of the need for full BSE testing. Most analysts up here, including some in the packing plants themselves, agree that full BSE testing would make it even easier to sell into Japan. Throw in age verification, and we have a slam dunk.

There is documented proof all over the web with the Japanese stating they would accept BSE tested beef. I think its odd that those statements are ignored.

BTW, SH, you have yet to answer my question about whether you feel Japan is less knowledgeable about BSE testing than North America. And you still haven't answered me about why we should allow complete freedom for some aspects of cattle raising (cash basis contracts for example), but not allows others that same latitude?

The Canadian system offers the Japanese politicians the protection of the Wagyu constituency because of the age verification system.

In addition, Cargill and Tyson are allowed comparable advantages in Canada which furthers their goals of industry consolidation or cooperation by those that are left in the industry.

USDA is just helping consolidate the industy and globalize it at the same time. At the end of the day, it is the economics that rules and sorts out the winners from the losers. It is too bad the USDA bends over backwards to hurt the producers and advantage certain companies in these battles.
