We had a skunk in the yard, for the past few days. It scared the $hit out of the wife and sprayed the dog.
This morning I "got rid of it".
Now there are 6 or 8 baby skunks peeking out from under the feed shed.
If I can get a picture of them I will post it. I wonder if a zoo or a pet store would want them or if that is even legal????
They are TOO cute....... but I doubt they will survive without their momma.

would it be possible for you to contact your local vet or wildlife department and have them "deodorized"????? Not sure about that or if they are even old enough, but I can understand your concern!! Best of luck, Tim and we are waiting for the pictures!!

Tim the way your wife likes animals I m quite sure she will take the baby skunks and raise them up to be big skunks.

Yup. You've got her pegged. She already took them out some milk and some cat food!!!! Tied the dog up as well.
I'll take the camera out to the shop with me after supper. Should be able to get some pictures.
How many "pets" would you like ,Chris???

A copperhead huh? Never seen one before. Pretty............nasty lookin'. Ewwwww! :?

I wouldn't mind a pet skunk. Get them de-scented and advertize them. All the upper crust will want one of the "little stinkers". Baby skunks are cute. Train one to answer the door and take care of unwanted visitors.

Yeap copperhead......we have plenty!!!!!

My grandma had a couple (de-scented) skunks as pets......or so she said, I never messed with em after I seen her tryin to open the cage door one time and one of em grabbed hold of her finger thru the wire.......with it's teeth....and wouldn't turn loose......
That ended any thoughts of ever havin a skunk for a pet LOL

The vet prob won't deal with the skunks as there are all kinds of new laws now regarding the handling of " wild life"...no matter what the age.

They make GREAT pets! If you're on good terms with the vet you might could get him the de-skunk it ....or make him think its' a domestic skunk and not a wild one.

I did the same thing once....killed the Mommie...but I started setting out some cheap cat food, the canned kind, in a dish for the babies. Didn't think they'd make it either but felt guilty about it all. They ate it all up and went on to live their lives.

Probably by now ( 2 yrs later)...I've bet I've shot them also!!!

TimH----your story about the baby skunks has reminded me of what has recently taken place in my old home town, deer lodge, where my 18 year old lives and works!! He and 3 buddies went out camping and shortly after pitching their tent, the wind kicked up and they caught wiff of something rotten (and not in denmark, either)! Upon investigation, they found the half rotted carcass of a doe with an obvious gunshot wound (don't ya just LOVE those poachers  )....well, not more than 10 feet from her body they found her fawn....spots and all and still alive!! The boys packed up camp and took the fawn home to nurse it back to health until they could find what to do with it!! They kept her about 48 hours and then managed to contact someone from fish and game about finding a better place for her to remain!! She is now safe and sound and well cared for....I think someone outside of Fairmont took her for somesort of wildlife refuge!! They took pictures, but I am a little behind in figuring out the whole scanning process and then posting!! Give me time!!
