It can be done: We just have to get the motor companies to make the change...

while you are at it, can you hold back the tide, andand throw a rock to the moon??

those big companies are all tied together....ans we just keep ending over saying"thank you sir, may I have another"

My hubby has been talking to some of the truckers and the low sulpher fuel doesn't sound to good... I'll have to ask him again, but they were talking about sending there trucks back to detriot and having them come back with poor performance and bad milage....... I'll ask and get the skinny........

Yeah.. The jetta with the TDI got some pretty good milage... Neighbor had one.. Couldn't even tell it was a Diesel .. Quiet, quick.. Nice little car... The question on all of them though is does the extra X amount of dollars for the engine going to be paid off for in the extra fuel economy.. I don't know if they hold the resale value like the diesel trucks do....

Some guy who comes out and eos ay labor works at a Diesel shiop around here was aying that the new fuel was going to be problems... Something to do with lubrication in it and of less energy than the older stuff.. But he also claims to own a fleet of semi's but lives in a house that has holes in the floor and no hea Of course that doesn't matter because he spends at least 6 months of the year in county on Alcohol related stuff or driving without a liscense that was revoked because of DUI... So most everything he says, I take with a grain of salt.

Yes that is what we are hearing....... Guess we'll see... :???: I don't know if we have the low sulphur here on the place yet or not.....We contracted our fuel this last week... Hope we did the right thing..

He also says they have been having problems wiith one of the companies biodiesel but I know tons of folks that get the fuel from their with no problem... So we shall see.. I haven't noticed any difference in milage with the new diesel in my pickup but that mostly depends on how I am driving..

The low sulfur requirements from the EPA is the big reason why once we had all the Katrina price spikes we did not see Diesel come down like gas did. Diesel around here use to be either as cheap or cheaper than Regular Gasoline. But the New Sulphur requirements hit around the same time as Katrina and now we see 30+ cents more for Diesel than gas.

I considered a Jetta for wife but held off due to reasons Il Rancher mentioned. But if Diesel cars were able to be produced on a more wide range plan we could be getting good mileage and resale and quality.

A lot of blame goes to Washington for high gas prices, it should be directed towards the EPA and Global Warming fanatics instead of Republicans and Oil Companies (which i am sure they do there part also).

Complete Biodiesel Module Refinery (methyl ester)
$1,275,000.00
This was on ebay........ Maybe we should of had a ranchersnet partnership.
Sell shares and make our own fuel....

"A gallon of ethanol produces 10 percent less British thermal units than a gallon of biodiesel. The cost of ethanol production is $1.10 per bushel of that, 72 cents is energy costs. Of that, 42 cents is the cost of drying the grain by-product. Those costs are continuing to shrink."

the ethonal market is still learning and growing....it has pitfalls...and like any market it is better to be at the beginning then at the end.....in that the article makes a very valid point....

I would rather our goverment invest in ethonal then Iranian oil....

Had the investment not been made, and the results seen today the biodiesel would have been discounted before it was ever started.....

Like any investment a person should look at the negative side "more" then the positive rosy outlook presented by the salesman.

Hopefully wise investments will fuel these new markets.....because poor investments will sour future investments in alternative fuel sources.

Does the off road diesel for farmers have the lower sulfur requirements and if not did it come down in price back to close to what it was before Katrina?

Low Sulfur didn't hit around here until January 1st of this year so I won't get into the pre or post Katrina issue as far as price.... But no, Farm Diesel, especialy #1 right now which is blended into the #2 for a winter blend is big bucks and has only come down a little from peaks... Not a huge difference in price from what I am paying at the pump when I fill up and when I order the 500 gallons or so of off road... I believe if is also low Sulfer now to but I am not sure..

Diesel was cheaper than gas when I bought by truck in late Septermber of 2006 but within a month it was flipped... So it must be my fauilt, lol.

Diesel has been around 30 cents higher than Gas around here ever since the the big Katrina surge in price.

How much higher is diesel now for you than gasoline?

Hmm... I would have to check but it ranges from .30 to .40... I think one station today I saw it was only .25 dfference.. But... Right after Katrina Diesel here was about 10-20 cents cheaper... I think when I got my third tank of fuel in the truck is when the spike started.. We topped off at something like 3.30.. It was when the second Huricane came in and hit Texas and all the speculators ran up Oil some more because... WEll, becasue they can..

The sulpher ppm being at 1500 ppm or whatever it was, was changed over on January 1st to 15 ppm around here. No diference in price as best I can tell... The only reason I know this is lots of pumps had warnings that the fuel was the higher sulfer level back in December now have stickers saying it is the 15 ppm.
