I made the mistake of listening to the two buffoons debate tonight.

Going on and on about choosing the right rebels and arming them and hoping they don't use the weapons on us later.

Applying pressure to various governments so they do what we want.

Applying sanctions to Iran to cripple their economy, but needing to provide economic develpment to other countries so they won't hate us.

Having to defend Isreal and Japan and the rest of the world.

Aid here, troops there, sanctions, providing weapons, nation-building, on and on, blah, blah, blah.

And after talking about spending trillions of dollars meddling in other countries, they say the debt and our economy is our biggest problem.

October 23, 2012

Libertarian presidential nominee Gov. Gary Johnson released the following statement in response to Monday night’s debate:

“With only two weeks to go before Election Day, it is more clear than ever that the views and concerns of millions of Americans are being shut out of this campaign by the Republicans and the Democrats. Let’s have a debate not about how much longer to remain in Afghanistan, but about why we shouldn’t bring our men and women home now. No one on the debate stage is challenging the fundamental premise of endless foreign intervention. Rather, we have two candidates agreeing with one another about flawed foreign excursions we cannot afford.

“And remarkably, we heard a continuation of the fallacy that we can somehow balance the budget while spending more on defense. It doesn’t add up.

“There is a candidate who will, in fact, challenge the status quo. But the Republicans and Democrats don’t want the American people to hear from that candidate. Doing so would spoil the ‘two-party party.’”

You don't lead by hitting people over the head - that's assault, not leadership.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

When people speak to you about a preventive war, you tell them to go and fight it. After my experience, I have come to hate war.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex.

Doesn't Johnson realize that there was a recent assessment of the natural resources contained within Afghanistan? It is loaded.

The country with access to the most natural resources will rule the world economically. That's the way it has always been, and will be in the future.

The Afghani's need help in mining them and who better than us? China?

We've already let China take over much of the abundant resources in Africa, much to our disadvantage.

We NEED to spread our wings a little or we'll be left behind. What is there to sell the rest of the world without natural resources besides software?

I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.

Major General Smedley Darlington Butler

So you're saying one of the most decorated Marines in U.S. history was right- we are no better than the mafia... We use our military and invade countries, strong arm the residents, and kill thousands to build our economic wealth while hiding behind a pretense of promoting Democracy (to folks that have never known- or said they want- Democracy)

In 1934, he became involved in a controversy known as the Business Plot, when he told a congressional committee that a group of wealthy industrialists were planning a military coup to overthrow Franklin D. Roosevelt. The purported plotters wanted Butler to lead a mass of armed veterans in a march on Washington and then become a dictator. Butler never met with any of the principals, and the individuals supposedly involved all denied the existence of a plot. The media ridiculed the allegations. Biographer Hans Schmidt portrays him as the victim of a small-time trickster

Died in 1940 so he sure as he!! would know all about todays world problems

No. I'm saying while we are in Afghanistan we need to help them with their natural resources for a cut of the pot.

has anyone noticed that the only ones "supporting" Johnson would have normally voted for Obama?

I still say the best republican PAC ad should have been one listing all of Johnson's positions.. in all the pro Obama states..

It is the Dems. that go to war to promote democracy.

Libya is a perfect example.

Libya was not a threat, yet obama felt he should help out al queda, so as to bring democracy to the citizens.

That's been my gut feeling about Johnson from the start. This isn't the only place you'll notice that.

You call that a war :???: ... Like Obama said last night- and was factchecked by CNN- all the US's military efforts in Libya supporting the homefolks ousting Gaddafi cost less than 2 weeks of the cost of Bush's Oil War in Iraq.....

Bush's war in Iraq was to save 100,000s from a murdering dictator, that had used chemical weapons on his own. dems voted for the war becasue they thought it would bring Democracy to the Country.

Libya had the highest standard of living in Africa, before obama got there and sided with the terrorists. The house and Representatives weren't even given a chance to vote on it.

Bush's war........ So should we attack N Korea (as a start) now where its people are not exactly living the life of Riley?

North Korea isn't killing hundreds of thousands of it's citizens with chemical or biological weapons. They are just starving to death, is all.

Have you ever been to a third world country? Lived amongst 'em for any length of time?

You mean you Dems. aren't trying to bring them "democracy" Why have you not been successful so far?

If you treated the N. koreans like Libyans, would you be more succesful? Maybe you coiuld side with the terrorists in the Country and bring Democracy to them.

Might lose the odd US ambassador or 2, by siding with the wrong people, but it would all be worth it, wouldn't it?
