I think we are going to get to go. Got the rooms, but around here
nothing is for sure. Got my fingers crossed. We are to leave
Friday and come back Sunday.

Let me know if you are going, maybe we can meet somewhere.

Number 2 daughter and a couple of her girlfriends are already there- teachers convention going on so all the schools and colleges closed down....God only knows where she will be at tho- or what she will be doing...Last time she was in Billings for the PBR she decked some guy that was trying to pick a fight with the guy she was with- and then #3 daughter coldcocked his buddy with a beer bottle when he tried to jump in the middle of it ... My sweet little ladies

Just got home from Nile. Had to get some parts, etc and stopped in long enough to look through some of the trade show and the first half of the Gelbvieh sale. Maybe we will have to go back down for a longer look. Have to say this, Tester has a booth set to kiss babies and tell more lies. He's standing there with that stupid grin on his face eating a doughnut. I felt like stopping and asking him a question or two but I hate to interupt a two fisted eater when he has a plate full of doughnuts in front of him. What a guy.

That attitude probably won't get you any invites to his D.C. office next year..

Wish I could find the time to go to some of these shows... I jsut hope I can maange to get to the Illinois Beef Expo this year... The odds on it aren't very good.. I just don't pay enough attention or something and by the time I hear it is coming it is usually come and gone.. Oh well, really would probably drive me nuts in the long run.

Tester is the Democrat candidate in Montana for State Senator.
He is running against Conrad Burns-R-whose name as been linked
to Jack Abramoff. Conrad was pretty popular til this was brought
to light. He has had an impact on communication technology availability
in Montana and he is a senior on the Ag boards in D.C.
We lose a lot if we lose him. I just wish he'd have kept his nose
clean.

Burns has also brought a ton of money to Montana State University's ag college. If he loses, MSU stands to lose a lot too. Very sad for a good ag. school, that is fighting the urban population in Western MT for funding.

I too wish Burns wasn't tied to Abramoff, but as I told OT in a post sometime ago, it is hard to find a politician with Native Americans/reservations in their state who doesn't have ties to Abramoff. Heck our jokers here in ND have been linked, but they are just too strong to have it affect them.

Good luck to the Montanas...heck isn't this the kind of deal that got you all saddled with "good 'ol" Schweitzer?

Cheers---

Well, I'm still going to vote for Conrad. Guess I'll kill OT's vote for
Tester if nothing else.

At least we KNOW Conrad and what he has done for Ag in Montana.
None of us is completely GOOD or completely BAD. Not that I am
justifying what he did, I am not. And I think it would have been
better if he had stepped down, as OT has stated.

And really, what I know about Tester
would NOT make me vote for him. If we vote for the Libertarian,
we just as well vote for Tester...

This should be in Political but it is not so here goes. OT, a little history for you from My perspective. While in DC, Conrads staff took us on tours anywhere we wanted to go, saw things most people are not allowed to see, because we are constituents. We then went down to Baucus's office, he would not even let us in because we are with Provider Pals, founded by Bruce Vincent, A republican that believes in multiple use of federal lands and a bunch of ranchers and farmers who are not my constituents, I was elected by the people from the cities of Montana. Now onto Helena, I sat in front of Tester's office waiting to talk to him about funding for Montana Ag Experiment Station (I have served on the MAES advisory committee for 14 years) which was included in HB 2 as always and he would not let us talk to him as we were not influencing MSU to do organic research. He is so blind to understand that if he would have funded some of the research, they would have maybe done something for him and his organic farming which is a farce cause he is a music teacher in Big Sandy. He is not a Marine, his brother was, he is a total joke. If he does not let me in his office, if he should have one, so what. He won't be anything more than Hillary's pimp and I want nothing to do with that crowd

sw- While I agree Conrad has been good for Montana Agriculture and I have had several one on one conversations with him- even a toddy or two- and that I have voted for him every time before- he has now betrayed the trust I put in him...I cannot vote for another crook in D.C. Sometime we all have to stand up and start giving them the boot- or else we will give them free rein to do anything they want in D.C. Its just like the Foley deal- its starting to sound like numerous Congressmen knew of his indiscretions- but either because of some type of mafia type unwritten rule of not snitching on your brothers or the fear of having your own skeletons revealed, no one said or did anything...Pathetic....

Conrad got caught- now he needs to go...Either for the stupidity of the acts or the stupidity of getting caught- he needs to go...Tester may not be the answer- but he hasn't been shown yet to sell out his beliefs and vote to the highest bidder, like Conrad did....

I read the US attorney's report on the US Marianas Islands- and how he opposed communist China being allowed to run factories there and was in favor of having the territory fall under US law-- then he took one trip there with Abramoff and Delay (boy- there's a pair of honorable folks  ), a little $5000 campaign donation, and he flipflopped on his opposition- allowed Communist China to set up sweat shops on US territory, without any US regulation, and allow all product to be marked product of USA...Have you read the US attorney's report? How it has badly effected US security- both militarily and Homeland security in that south seas and southeast Asian people (large home of Al Quaeda) are using it as an easy entry source to the US- as once there (since it is US soil) they can fly directly to the mainland without the customs and immigrations checks imposed on persons arriving from foreign soil ...How many of the employees are brought there and held there as almost slave labor (Burns voted to not allow the US laws and labor and wage regs affect the Islands)- that are forced to have abortions if they become pregnant...How disease is running rampant thru the territory and how now the US territory's Governor's hands are tied to do anything...And how all that product comes to the US deceptively (but legally since its produced in a US territory) marked product of US to compete against US business's and employees... If you haven't read it I definitely reccomend reading it...

I live on an Indian Reservation- Conrad is despised on the reservation, almost hated by the natives because of his absolute refusal to support most tribal or Indian projects- even tried to do away with reservations (which I didn't think was a bad idea) - but then Conrad as Interior Committee Chairman, writes letters directly to Interior Secretary Norton and pulls strings to build a multi million dollar school on a Michigan Reservation that is rated the richest tribe in the nation- a project that both his committee and the interior department had turned down as being unneeded and frivolous... And then Lo and Behold its revealed that Abramoff gave him campaign donations and flew one of his aides to the Super Bowl to get him to write the letters and pull the strings...As Abramoff testified to "We could get anything we wanted from Senator Burns"...I'd hope so for $150,000... He's been bought out and we need to start cleaning out these crooks that sell their vote for X amount of dollars......

Now You were in law enforcement, in America you are innocent until proven guilty if I am correct. Show me where Conrad is guilty and I will shut up. You can't and you won't. If tester the taxer is so great, why is your leader of R-CALF, Pat Goggins, a Democrat, hosting a get together for Conrad at the NILE tommorrow night? I guess I am just too stupid to follow the logic in this one. Tester is bad for this state, he is bad for this country, unless you ask Teddy and Nancy and Hillary. Oh BTW, a promise of committee appointments by Harry Reid, have as much chance as a Democrat in Musselshell County. None.

I don't believe the investigation on Abramoff and Conrad has ended yet- it appears to me to be going in stages of charge one- then prosecute/make a deal and get more evidence- then charge another... I'd think a Senator is probably one of the top rungs they are looking at- unless there actually is evidence on Gayle Norton as the rumors intimate....Innocent until proven guilty is a courtroom term- those in law enforcement know that for every 1 found guilty- 10 guilty get away with it....And yes I was in law enforcement- and after 30 years you could get a gut feeling right away if they did it or not- and my gut feeling going on 30 years of interviewing the same type of criminals and going over the evidence so far known, is that Conrad flat did it and more ...Thats the reason I can't vote for him...

Even if he violated no law- he violated the trust I put in him to take care of my tax dollars when he went against his own committee, the BIA, and the Interior Secretary that told him the richest tribe in the US didn't qualify for the grant and he put a special rider onto a bill to get them the money...And this tribe and reservation isn't even in Montana....In return this Abramoff negotiated deal got Conrad a $20,000 donation from the Michigan tribe.....Sad-Very Sad... :( I'd rather have someone else as a caretaker of my taxes...

Have you read the US attorneys report- or are you like MRJ and make decisions only knowing half (one side) of the information? If I remember right this was a President Bush appointee US attorney that wrote the report, too...

I have directly sent letters and e-mails to Conrad asking him to explain it- and he has never answered them...When asked in public to explain the contributions he has only one answer "there is nothing there- forget it"....

If he really wants our votes- I think he owes us an explanation about his little $150,000+ he stuffed in his campaign pockets.....He's even denied he's under investigation- but he hired a criminal attorney who's expertise is bribes, campaign donations, and white collar crime ( which he's already payed $26,000+ for with your campaign donation   since he claims this is all a left wing conspiracy ala shades of Billy Clinton).....

The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.
