I think one more phone call will do it. Working on a smaller feeder in Nebraska on straight Herefords. 575lbs with two rounds of shots for end of October delivery @ 1.25

Am I close... anyone contract lately?

My uncle sold a couple weeks ago for 1.26 for either 575 or 600 lbs.

Two contracts I know of in the last couple days-- one was 525 mostly red angus- red angus/tarentaise @ $1.28-- no shots.... The other was 575 black angus at $1.19-- no shots ....Both were for around Nov 1 delivery....Two different buyers.....

Both these are right on the Canadian line 30 miles west of me.....

Hereford 76-- I think you got a pretty good offer compared to what we've been getting over here....I just dug out my sheet where I had some of the contracts I knew listed on them-- and most been somewhere around the $700 mark-- depending on cattle- and shots....Under $700 without shots- over with....

Seems the heifer number this year is $5-6 back--and the shots are worth about $.05 lb again-- $20-30 a head.....

So since you're getting over $700- this years magic number- it seems you're getting a pretty good offer...
And they are Herefords

Contracts in our country seem to be around $1.23 for 625 lbs.
The rancher that was offered this didn't take it, tho. :???:

They musta had lots of work.......Im thinking that's a fair price.
good luck

I thought so too. Don't know how it could get much higher.
But this guy is plenty sharp, so we'll see, I guess.
I hate losing dollars fighting over cents.

Oldtimer - this feeder down in Nebraska fed my calves in 2004 and 2005 and not last year. He likes to feed herefords and got burned on the wrong kind last year. I asked what I wanted and I think he knows calves are getting harder to buy every day especially ones he has fed with good luck in the past. He also knew that another feeder I sold calves to was competing on them. Yeah - I think it is a great price especially for a straight hereford, but don't think for one minute that they aren't worth that.
