You guys are making me green with envy 'cuz I can't be there. Had plans made for that week for a loong time. Plus a friend's wedding to attend.
But I'll sure be thinking of y'all. And listening to the news for any reports of riots breaking out in Deadwood Gulch, SD. Wouldn't Oldtimer be in his glory? :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:   :help:
Maple Leaf- I'd have a ball watching this old fart group riot   I think I could even handle it....
Every post someone adds makes me drool more about being there-- but I still doubt I'll make it --400 acres of flax and 400 acres of wheat have a stronger beckon-- some of which could actually be worth something-- (definitely not the $1.50 they are paying now for wheat

:???: )
The last time I was in Deadwood was 30 some years ago with a new bride who almost killed me when I spent a day with her spellbound in the Reptile Gardens during the trip ( she hates snakes).......My bride agrees she would love the trip-but unless its raining or we're hailed out I'll just have to leave rancher or Haymaker to police the situation
I don't think I've been out of the county between June 1 to Dec 1 for the last 6-7 years unless it was for a rodeo or horse sale.........Just too busy a time.....
But the good news--I did finish swathing the last of the first cutting hayfields yesterday-- and caught up with the balers hauling them off today- only have about 70 acres left to bale-- I have never saw so much hay- hell of a problem

Some of the second cutting alfalfa is already shooting blossoms after being irrigated.....
