It was reported on the local radio this morning that women in Montana get paid $.70 for every $1.00 a man gets paid when doing the identical job...

When you look at the data OT, you will find that your information is not true. The data that was being reported did not compare equal job positions, but the work force in general. There are already laws against paying based off of sex. But I find it even more hilarious that the white house that is trying to play the sexism game for everyone else is just as guilty of their entire work force.

The recent study, by the conservative American Enterprise Institute, showed that the median annual salary for women in the White House last year was $65,000, while the median annual salary for men was $73,729. The study was based on White House salary data.

So how many of these jobs are women taking part time or lesser involved jobs so that they can spend more time with their kids? Many- I know of many. I've worked with and hired many. I'm married to one.

But more importantly, OT I'm glad that you agree that women should be treated appropriately. You must agree then that Sharia law should not be recognized in the US then- correct?

God created man, then created woman from man, as a mate and companion..... if we were equal, then I guess HE would have made them both at the same time....

I feel a woman can do anything she wants. and pay should be the same as a man's.... but the equal rights BS has gone too far. women have a natural role in this world. being a man is NOT that role... women fire fighters have lower expectations than men. women soldiers too.... if the job requires a certain level of physical ability to perform, then why cheat it back so women qualify??? this is not equal, it is lowering the bar....

I know some women who out work a lot of men. but they also don't complain about equality either.... no, I think it is a select few of man hating women who are pushing this agenda.... not honest good hard working women. those women are already appreciated by men.

I think it is mostly an administration that is pushing the agenda to further divide people on a non-issue.

I agree that women and men are different. When I want someone that can multitask- I generally hire a woman. They are just physically more capable. If I wanted someone to lift all day, I would expect to see more productivity by a man- of course this is on average.

I believe in pay on production. It is by far the best system.

I also agree that the bar should not be lowered based on sex, and then turn around and complain about equality.

It is proven that on average women have a steadier hand. This can make them better welders than men. Better surgeons etc.

Physically they are not equivalent. 1 in 3 College women who are athletes blow an ACL. It is 1 in 10 for men. The average woman's ACL canal is 1/3 the size of an average man's. If women attain the same leg strength, their tendons cannot sustain the strength.

If their production is equivalent in their profession, they deserve equivalent pay. If their production exceeds another, they deserve a higher compensation. It needs to be a level playing field.

Some women are go getters. Some are free loaders who want just as much as anyone else. We have men who are free loaders. They have no protection. They can be cut loose.

Montana Democrats, Media Cite Outdated, Exaggerated Figure on Gender Pay Gap

Montana Democratic politicians and state media outlets continue to claim that women in the state make on average just 67 cents for every dollar earned by men despite more recent data from Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock’s own “Equal Pay Task Force”

Calculating gender pay discrepancies is quite tricky and the numbers arrived at are often misleading. The above figures are calculated simply by taking the overall median wage for females who work full-time and dividing it by the overall median wage for males who work full-time. They do not take into account other factors such as occupational differences, experience, job tenure, age, education level, college major, or hours worked per week. For workers in the same industry with comparable skills and experience, the gender wage gap is nearly non-existent.

Tester has had his own equal pay practices come under scrutiny. A 2012 report from the Washington Free Beacon found that women on Tester’s staff earned just 66 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts.

darn facts...

I came across the same information- and figured the same as soon as I heard the ridiculousness of Obama's claims. But I still would like to know if OT is so concerned about women that he would agree that the US should not recognize sharia law?

I believe there are women out there that can do a great job and should get equal pay but I also think that where the studies fall short are due to the idea a lot of women in the work force are willing to work for a bit less if it means they can get a flexible work schedule that is needed if they are raising a family. Men can take jobs that require more travel and longer hours than mothers of small children that need to be picked up from day care at a reasonable hour. I'm not saying dads don't have these responsibilities in their families but let's face it the LARGE majority of the time the mothers are the ones doing tasks like, Doctors visits, Dental check ups, Eye exams, parent teacher conferences, not to mention grocery shopping and fixing of meals and getting the little ones bathed and ready for bed. If they are not lucky enough to be stay at home moms they need flexibility in their work schedules to accommodate family commitments. That flexibility comes at a cost to their take home pay as it should.

As far as lowering the bar for females in the military, I'm completely against it. It should have nothing to do with your gender, it should only be about your abilities. If you can not complete the same task asked of your male counterpart then you should not be there risking his life. Same goes for any job where your inability to do the job is risking others safety. Nobody should have to worry about whether or not your can meet the strict requirements of the job, they should know you can as you passed the same tests they did. If a woman in the military can't meet the strict requirements for certain jobs there are other military jobs she can do just as there are for men. Not everyone can fly a fighter jet and not everyone can order the supplies needed to keep a base operating smoothly. If a female wants to fly fighter jets she trains just like a man and passes the same test if she fails then test her on ordering base supplies until she can pass the fight jet required testing. Lowering the bar because of gender risks everyone involved.

I bet, if you were to drill down deeper, women are mostly on par with men, if wage/salary is taken by hour worked, versus on an annual basis.

And, wouldn't at least having a job with a priority?

women have been hurt by obama's economic policies more so than by any "wage gap". and I'm sure increased obamacare premiums aren't helping either.

The Dem's "war on the working class" is really kicking in.

The pay gap among women in the White House is more than twice as large as the average in the nation’s capital.

While female White House staffers earn about 88 cents for every dollar men in the White House make, women in the District earn about 95 cents for every dollar a men make, according to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
