NR,

I think you worked for the Hunts at Endiang. The Hunts were true Stockmen in the Western Canadian mold. The cattle they ran definitely were high percentage French or Full French. The herd sire I remember best was Beaugency since he sired the bull I used Beau Jet 32D.
Most Canadian Charolais are 1/2 to 3/4 French as the American maternal bloodlines are considered not muscled enough and too hard keeping. Full French Charolais are grass cattle and are much easier keeping than American Charolais. Full French are also much more muscular and have better dispositions. American Charolais are easier calving, more fertile, better milking and better growing. Canadian and Australian Charolais are a blend of the two.
In the U. S. the Full French are on a revival. Broken Box Ranch is using a bull with old Full French genetics: http://www.brokenboxranch.com/charolais/herdsires.htm
You still find older breeders using very old French bulls. A market for these bulls may exist so you may want to sell it on the Charolais Banner website.
