Just thought I would share some pics of what we are like here as far as moisture. We are in the Red Deer area and it is desperate for moisture. As you all know Alberta suffered the worst drought in 50 years last summer and our area is now going to be declared a disaster area if we do not get any rain or snow soon. We have not have any real moisture since the beginning of Feb. All the rain and snow the last month has gone around us. This area is usually known for lush rich soil..
The reason for such distress is that we in only have a 3-4 month growing season at best .

This should be full of water all the way to the trees. BTW that is an abandoned acreage that I wish would implode as it is a big eye sore..

The pasture and hopefully reseeded hay field

The heifer area, it is usually covered in snow now.

Hubby and Nikki(my little cow girl) after doing some fencing in our driveway ,that is usually a big mud hole this time of year.

Thursday, you are slated for rain on Thursday. OK I don't have a clue but I sure hope you get it soon. That is sure great and productive (with rain) country.

That's tough. I was in that area back in the seventies for 4 springs. The area was covered in snow until after the third week of April every year. Back then I was glad to get back to dry ground in the Big Muddy. :)

That's some nice looking ranching country, I sure hope you get some moisture soon. Where abouts are you? It looks kinda like Carrot Creek / Mayorthorpe country.
Good looking heifer too, looks like it would make a cow that would make a nice addition around here.

Here's praying for rain for you...
We learned a lot here in '02 that was reinforced last year. Moisture is the great equalizer.

Hillsdown, boy oh boy that is stark for your country.
I have never seen that country so dry and have been driving through that country on trips to Red Deer all my life.

Hope you get some moisture soon!

Your country is where all our feed comes from.

Nice looking Gelbvieh heifer.

She is red in person, and on my screen as well so it must just be the lighting making her look blonde. I do have quite a few gold ones though too.

The weather forecast for the week. If we get any of this it sure will help; so things may be looking up.. :D

I hope you get all that moisture and then some. We're supposed to get some tonight and tomorrow, we sure need it too.

As far as the darker colour goes, many Blondes are very dark as well. To be honest, from what I've seen of both breeds I'm not sure the differences are significant. Which explains our Gelb. bull :)
