We do 27 calves per draft, because that is how many doses of vaccine can be placed in a gun.

The wind howled this morning, but the afternoon turned out to be very nice. We seized the opportunity to brand 83 calves after the noon meal. We worked the 83 calves in just a little over two hours, after the cows were sorted away from the calves.

Is that the first bunch Soap?

If you look on the bright side you will be done with branding and getting haying machinery ready to go before it gets dry enough to work calves here. :p

Calves looking growthy as always.

Glad you had a nice day for branding :D . Your calves look really nice... and the more I look at them, the more I realize mine need a bit more frame  .

whats the deal that holds the rope, once the calf is caught. We have a few wrestlers and just hold tight the rope tight with the horse

That first picture just proves what some of us already knew. :D :D

I'm glad you said that- because I would have got chastised by some overly virtuous person for saying the same...

I do like Kosmos new suspender look.....If you look back in history- and the old pictures of the old cowboys-- the belts and especially the dinner plate sized trophy buckles of today weren't there-- but the suspenders were...

My Granddad wore suspenders and a vest almost every day of his life-- and usually a suitcoat and tie when going to town....
