April has been a very fickle month. Some days it was dang near hot and others were blizzards and ice. Aint spring grand?

Tonight is cold and cloudy. Been havin' flurrys and hail all day. Clouds are sure pretty though.
Another storm is coming in tonight. Looks like the front has arrived.
Evening showers on the Sheeprocks.
Thought I'd show ya a couple of my projects in the coming days. I picked up some old tracks off of mini excavators from a friend of mine. My plan is to use them along the bottom of my manger in my stackyard. They should be plumb stout and wont rot as they are rubber. I'll keep ya'll posted.
Project #2 is my version of Soapweed's branding Gizmo. Mine is permanently anchored on a pipe in what will be my working corral by late summer. Panels will do for a corral when we work our calves. It is a work in progress and still has things I might change.
It's built to have the whole gizmo come off the pipe base thanks to a couple of bolts. That will keep it out of the weather when not in use.
I need to modify the duckbills and add belting to protect my rope. I aint much of a fabricator/welder but I'm all I got! Thanks Soap and Sparky for the permission and inspiration.
At dusk we walked out through the cows. Some shots are out'a focus and I apologize. Must be tired and can't hold the camera steady.
My best replacement heifer. Looking forward to her calf next spring. Looking forward to her hanging around a decade or two!
Cows and calves.
My $150 cow and her calf out of Select Sires bull "Decatur".
The bunch is pretty wild. But the cows are mellow!
The bull in his working clothes. He has been doing what bulls do for a couple weeks now. Excited to see his kids.
And as the sun set and the cows graze, we wander through the sage back to the house. The moisture has been welcome and the calves are blooming with the grass. The meadowlark sings his heart out and the kids are skipping up the trail toward a warm home. I hold my sweetheart by the hand and see the spark in her gorgeous green eyes. I am as rich as a man can get.

Ya'll have a fine weekend!
