In the latter part of the last century, the U.S. Extreme Court issued a blanket decision granting Monsanto and other biotech companies the right
to patent all life on Earth, and the rush was on. The U.S. government immediately began approving patent applications from these
corporations.
In February, 2005, at the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland, Monsanto received a patent licence for the
invention of pigs -- domestic and wild. Monsanto's patent also covers methods of breeding, all breeding herds of pigs, and all subsequent
offspring. Monsanto also holds patents on various grains, vegetables and fruits.
No pun intended, but Monsanto wants the whole hog.
Porcine DNA, breeding pigs and their offspring, etc., is owned exclusively by Monsanto, and any infringement on their patent, either by man
or beast will mean huge profits for the company, and time in prison for the offending swine.
Monsanto said that its $11+ billion profits from farm sales is not pig fodder, and that annual sales of pork to the public amount to $38 billion.
The company has a gaggle of lawyers to protect it from individuals or farmers who unintentionally or illegally produce Monsanto's pigs or
grains.
Monsanto started as an agro-chemical business, producing numerous pesticides and herbicides. Not long after Monsanto began to pursue
a monopoly on every level of food production. Monsanto has spent $10+ billion on buying out seed producers and other biotech companies,
such as Seminis, a giant in producing vegetable seeds.
Monsanto also holds blanket patents on a wide range of seeds, as well as patents on Basmati rice, soy plants, etc. These patents also cover
the use of seeds, all methods of harvest, and all uses of the plants.
Other perversions include their "Terminator Suicide Seeds."
Monsanto's "inventions" of selection, breeding, crossbreeding, artificial insemination, and other breeding methods are designed to speed
up the breeding cycles, and selecting the most desirable traits to make the animals more commercially profitable. Monsanto boasts about
the higher nutrition and lower fat content in its animals. The company screens the DNA sequence of its pig herds to determine which animals
will produce the highest percentage of pork per pound of feed. Of course, the feed for these pigs will be the grains grown from Monsanto's
Roundup Ready treated seeds, many of which are designed not to germinate.
In its growing monopoly on food production and supply, Monsanto (and other biotech corps.), are making the consumer public completely
dependent on them by dictating what farmers will pay Monsanto for its seeds, what farmers will grow, and what people will eat.
