Is this a dirty plan Obama nominated a Republican Senator for Sec of Commerce
Gregg comes from a state that has a Democrat governor. The Democrat governor is now to appoint a replacement. If he appoints a Dem to replace a Republican it will give the Dems 60 in the Senate which is the super 2/3 vote that Obama would need to push what ever he wants through the Senate

Just asking as it was brought up this way on the news

Senator Gregg was on CNN today along with Senator Conrad promoting the Senate version of the stimulus bill...When asked about the Commerce position all he said was "that he knew he was on the list of names"...

60 is 2/3 of 100?

You only need 60 votes to invoke cloture on a filibuster, not the 67 required for a 2/3 majority for things like ratifying treaties.

That will be the number we are shooting for in the NEXT election. :p

And Dems will have the 60 votes if Gregg takes the job (which after watching him today- I'm sure he will) and after Franken :gag: is seated ...And as I have said many time I don't like any party to have total control- but it might take that to rectify the mess GW created...Repubs crapped in their own nest by unquestioningly allowing GW free run- allowing him to give the finger to the laws/rules passed by Congress and the International world- and they have no one to blame but themselves.....
And, like I predicted, the voters of this country rebelled- and now we live with a new direction- be it good or bad :???: .....
