Are we building on Sand?

I do not see a firm foundation under America anymore. I have always believed that our production, our resources, our people with foresight, drive, and ambition, and our social values were the things behind our success.

We are no longer a productive nation, we have to many free-riders who produce nothing or even want to produce or provide anything.

Today so many things are phony. Everything has a paper value, but nothing of substance behind it. Soon we will have a debt greater then our gross domestic product. Does that not worry anyone.

The stock market goes up and down but nothing is exchanged except a promise and paper. More money is made in the exchange of stocks than dividends earned by the stockholder. Does this make sense to anyone?

We have a futures market or comodities, in theory it is backed by the comodities but they are bought and sold by people who have never shoveled a scoopful of grain or been near a cow, people who do not know what an ear of corn or a grain of wheat looks like.

Our social structure is in no better shape. The family is the first form of government. What is learned as a family is carried on to build our social values. Today about one family out of six are defunct. There is nothing to bind families together. I don't have to point out what is happening, evryone can see it. To many children today have nothing stable to look back on or to use as a guide, so how can the next generation be any better.

It is time to take notice.
