Are you freer today than you were before Obama?

WASHINGTON – Nearly half of all adults in America believe there has been a decrease in personal freedom under the Obama administration, which signals a significant degree of alarm across a wide swath of the population

Significant percentages of Americans see their personal freedom diminishing under President Obama and even fear speaking their minds, expressing their political and religious views and freely associating with others because of potential retribution by government, the scientific survey conducted by Wenzel Strategies found.

"These twin findings – that nearly half think the Obama administration has reduced freedoms and that a notable majority think government is using technology to intrude into the lives of citizens – paint a picture of a nation on edge over what might come next," said Fritz Wenzel, director of the survey.

"That so many see such fear in the common exercise of basic rights makes one wonder at what has happened in the nation known worldwide as the land of the free," said Wenzel. "A nexus of government activism, technological invasions of privacy and political correctness run amok has clearly spooked America."

It is only going to get worse. Obama wants to be the banker who loans the money for people to buy his cars that they can drive to see his doctors at his hospitals.

The Jimmy Carter wreck is going to look like a fender bender once Obama totals out everything. Double digit inflation, here he comes!

Wake Up America, by all outward appearances you are moving closer toward 100% government control every day.
Had a visit with my FIL last night, he put a philosophical question to me.

Is the current American administration intentionally breaking the US financially to make it an easier target for hostile nations?

Wow, how perceptions are shaped by one's biases, whatever side you are on.

I would respond that it is just the opposite, that we have more freedoms under Obama.

It is disturbing that so many of you are fearful.

What have you lost?

How about affordable ammunition to begin with? How about the ability to safely invest capital without competing with the government? How long of a list do you want?

I would be interested to know what greater freedoms you feel you have.

It funny that you list ' ammo' as your first complaint.

Wonder if the Feds are watching you if you are buying out the stores of all their ammo supplies.

I don't need anything else Kolo. We can hunt this fall if the wife wants to. We could not last fall because we coult not get ammo for her gun.

We went through an emergency response exercise with the new appointees of the Obama administration. What a joke. They don't understand plain English nor can they read a procedure and take appropriate actions. I cannot disclose safeguarded information. Just be concerned if we have any disaster. The people who are supposed to know what to do have not even read the procedures to know what protocol to follow.

I may be on their watchlist. I dunno. I do know that I past the annual background checks that are conducted on me in particular each year in April.

My investment strategies are completely different. Thank goodness I got out of the stock market when I heard all his hoopla and saw Pelosi licking her lips. I have been buying land. That is going to be my curb against his double digit inflation that is sutely coming. Money sitting in the bank is going to lose value in a hurry.

Well...I have no stock market $$$ either as I got out when Enron tanked.

I lost enough in those 3 hrs to keep out of the stocks for a LONG time.

I'm not buying ammo by the truck loads nor do I plan to. Surely you're not that bad of a shot that you need that much ammo

FWIW....I say that when all the dust settles with the economy and all and all the dead wood is cut away when someone tells you, " I'm worth $10K or $10M" , they really will be worth that in REAL money.

All the 'Paper Millionaires' will be gone.

It's a historical fact that new ideas are met with narrow mindedness....and this is what we are seeing today.

I don't see why so many people want to sit and biatch about this or that....and not get up and try to help out and include themselves and ideas into what they want changed.

I guess it's just easier to sit and biatch than get out and help.

And just the title of this thread is a tease and nothing but more BS by hypo

no we are not as free.. we used to be able to be a conservative white guy and speak our mind or agree with anthers point with out being labeled a racist or bigot in the next comment...

we can't defend our constitutional rights with out being called an extremist

so it is clear that the freedom of speech is not really freedom unless you agree with the liberals..

It sure isn't Obama's fault that ammunition is in short supply. It is all of the kooks that think they need a 100 year supply. I need a box of shells about every four years for my deer rifle and .270 shells are easy to find.

I was just thinking they need to come up here...I was just in the sporting goods store buying some more .357 gopher rounds and they had ammo stacks everywhere- and some on sale- like they always do this time of the year...
Every hardware store, farm supply, and quickstop sure seems to have a good supply-- but then altho we're a fairly conservative part of the county- I'm positive we ain't got as many of the paranoid rightwingernut "crazies" as are portrayed by some of the posters on here..

Yep Oldtimer I would have to say alot of the "shortage" is just a way to scare people into buying more ammunition at a higher price.

Why does a person have to discuss only the most important things. Is it to limiting for you to discuss more than one subject?

I have increased insight into my government's decisions.

I have the reassurance that our nation's scientific research organizations and regulatory agencies will respect science and not be bought and sold, based on ideology or big business.

I know that my government cares about the safety of my food, the air I breathe, and my children's education, not only lining the pockets of Tyson's and some oil fat cats in Texas.

I know that our leaders are more aware of the international context we have to acknowledge and live in in today's world and not ruling with past century blinders on.

Science and technology do not scare the new administration. Other cultures are not scary and "weird". I do not think that Obama will put a housewife from Texas in charge of winning the hearts and minds of the Arabs -- by the way after she was appointed we never heard another word from her and as far as I know after 4 years there were NO successes.

Our systems of checks and balances has been restored and I do not have to be afraid that the executive branch is becoming a dictatorship, led by a paranoid delusional secretive authoritarian.

All I can say to this is ROFLMAO...get out from under that mushroom...better yet quit smoking them.

You are more warped than I originally thought.

By the way, who's Sec. of Agriculture was caught accepting bribes from Tyson?

I could point out many other misguided notions from your statement, but honestly I don't have the time, nor would I feel it worthwhile.
