Ask Not What Your President Can Do For You

OT, any idea of which President in recent history has done more for indoctrination of the children, and politicizing issues?

Is he letting the kids know how debts and deficits will affect them?

How's that transparency coming along? Maybe check into how the stimulus funds for National Endowment for the Arts are being used.

Ask Not What Your President Can Do For You

The federal Department of Education has released a script for pre-K through 6th grade teachers to use in conjunction with Barack Obama's "historic" nationwide speech to elementary school students on September 8.

The script instructs teachers to use the following questions with the students after the speech:

What do you think the President wants us to do?
Does the speech make you want to do anything?
Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?
What would you like to tell the President?

This whole line of reasoning and questioning is backwards. It may have become lost in the mania, but HE works for US, not the other way around.

Instead of asking what we can do for President Obama, shouldn't we be teaching children to ask what President Obama can do for us?

And no, this is not Obama's "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" moment.

First to the current reality. It's all about him:

Now to the history lesson. It's not about him:

I thought you were the guys bitching about uninformed voters... :???:

Nothing gets kids more involved and knowledgeable than having them involved in day to day government and civics classes...
When I was on the school board I pushed for more measures to get kids involved in daily activities...I loved the current events program for grade schools...

Just because GW couldn't do it because he and Cheney were out violating the law- and playing chief law enforcement officer of the nation (which Cheney still believes they were  )-- now you're POed because someone else is doing it.....

Singing a song for dear leader Chairman Maobama under his banner is teaching kids about goverment? This makes me sick. How in the hell can you defend this crap?

Let's put this all in the proper context. Just check out the last 30 seconds - the first you've already seen;

OT, I think Hypocrite is POed about everything Obama...doesn't matter what it is. And that makes me wonder just what it is that started it. He's said that he had a friend that was somehow involved in Obama's church in Chicago. Makes me wonder what happened with that.

Doesn't really matter...Hypocrite has a case of the red ass on for Obama. Now, think about it...how could he continue to crucify Obama if McCain had been elected?

Alice (who most likely will not vote for Obama next time around, but really, really wonders what Hypocrite's real true problem is with Obama...)

Just got off the phone with my daughter, a 3rd grade teacher in a rural Texas big time Baptist town. She hasn't seen anything at all about this. Hmmmmm.....

So, this is not meant to stimulate individual thought in the children--it has to be scripted? Where I come from, the children who won't be listening to him are testing 'Advanced' and 'Proficient'--sure glad he is resorting to the 'Below Basic' level for the K-6 teachers whose schools will make them give up educational teaching minutes to listen to him blather about what he is going to do and change in education. I wonder what kind of questions they will come up with on the national test next spring to see if his planned/scripted brainwashing of the children worked? Spelling words would be fun--I say they start with 's-o-c-i-a-l-i-s-m'. I'm sure he has a great plan for NCLB, too--won't this be fun.

Please note that the time of this speech has changed to 12:00 noon eastern standard time.

Dear Principal:

In a recent interview with student reporter, Damon Weaver, President Obama announced that on September 8 — the first day of school for many children across America — he will deliver a national address directly to students on the importance of education. The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.

Since taking office, the President has repeatedly focused on education, even as the country faces two wars, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and major challenges on issues like energy and health care. The President believes that education is a critical part of building a new foundation for the American economy. Educated people are more active civically and better informed on issues affecting their lives, their families and their futures.

This is the first time an American president has spoken directly to the nation's school children about persisting and succeeding in school. We encourage you to use this historic moment to help your students get focused and begin the school year strong. I encourage you, your teachers, and students to join me in watching the President deliver this address on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. It will be broadcast live on the White House website www.whitehouse.gov 12:00 noon eastern standard time.

In advance of this address, we would like to share the following resources: a menu of classroom activities for students in grades preK-6 and for students in grades 7-12. These are ideas developed by and for teachers to help engage students and stimulate discussion on the importance of education in their lives. We are also staging a student video contest on education. Details of the video contest will be available on our website www.ed.gov in the coming weeks.
On behalf of all Americans, I want to thank our educators who do society's most important work by preparing our children for work and for life. No other task is more critical to our economic future and our social progress. I look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead to continue improving the quality of public education we provide all of our children.

Sincerely,

Arne Duncan

answer to what?

that he is a radical socialist. I think I have answered that many times over. What do you think I've been trying to tell you?

what you need to do is research it yourself, and figure out how it is going to help the US, by keeping him in power.

If you don't want to keep him in power, I have an answer for that too.

Ask him if he is Constitutionally eligible to be President, as "Natural Born Citizen"

This is Great-- at a time when dropout rates are higher than any other modern time- and the US education system and rate of graduates is falling behind much of the rest of the civilized world- this is perfect...Speak directly to the students...Anything that might stimulate even a small percentage is a gain....

yep, there it is.

take it or leave it. You're the one that is going to have to pay for your mistake in voting for him.

enjoy!

Whatever reason I have for disliking the man, you should have listened. It should have made you think, it didn't, it made you bury your head deeper.
