"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" (Marx)

A quote that contains some truth, yet with a toxic twist in its original context.

What is missing from the statement that renders it unworkable?

Burnt,

I've seen both the first and the second episode of these movies. Personally, I thought that the first one was compelling, but the second one, not so much.

I'm eager for them to release episode #3.

Sounds almost like southern plantation life in that there is a thinly veiled threat contained in it.

I haven't seen the movie yet...need to remember to rent it.

"What is missing from the statement that renders it unworkable?"

Well Marx wasn't the only one to have that idea...

Etienne-Gabriel Morelly (1755) "Code of Nature,"

"Nothing in society will belong to anyone, either as a personal possession or as capital goods, except the things for which the pers
on has immediate use, for either his needs, his pleasures, or his daily work."

and if you listen closely to obama, you will hear the same type of egalitarian society being envisioned.

We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.

obama most likely believes the same as Morelly, in that the "workers" shouldn't own anything beyond what they need for the day's work, and even that they can borrow from the "collective". Such as tools and materials.
