August wrap up

Going to get too busy to post pictures here soon so I thought a few to end August would be appropriate.

A house in my way the other day. Talk about moving lock stock and barrel.

Took in a little Lacrosse at the Alberta tournament. Those green clad boys from Saskatchewan cleaned our clocks. I hate it when they do that.

My boy and I played best ball skins against my dad and another 79 year old. They beat us by 2 skins. I hate it when that happens.

I had many a chance to fly one of these during my flying days. (no I am not that old, my uncle had one)

Water and green grass in August in Southern Alberta. Not a normal combination.

Took a few folks out to a conservation easement that is a part of our ranch. Smooshing Philanthropists is another one of those jobs a rancher finds himself doing. Jack of all trades and all.

Started cutting swathgrazing. I don't usually cut with a crimper for swathgrazing but the swather made such a big windrow that we will do a bunch of it with the discbine.

Eye see the ending photo. Be safe out there with finishing up baling and harvest.

Looks as though everything is under control with enough time for leisure. :D

Is your grainland finally starting to change colour? Better get it combined, it is -6 here this morning. Couple days like this and it will be a day shorter drying time for hay.

The grain is coming along fast now. It is still greenish but the kernels are plump and about 30% moisture. One more week to avoid the frost. 0.2 yesterday morning and some rain this morning so it is 6. Frost is predicted when this system moves on. The wheat in the area needs more time as well. It takes a little less power combining when the straw has been frozen several times. The straight cut headers will likely not get put to use around here this year.

Thanks for the pics Per, your country is sure looking great. We baled up some wheat straw last week on a guys place a few miles away. Seemed to me the wheat was ready pretty early up here this year.

Good pics. Thx.
Don't worry about the crimper on the swath grazing. A 14' haybine is all we have used on swathgrazing for a long time, and our cows are still plugging along.
