Avatars (the little picture by your name)

I've uploaded a lot of cattle pictures to the Avatars Gallery. So you can pick your favorite breed. Just make sure you are logged in, click on your name in the top right corner, then "Profile", "Edit Profile", "Edit Avatar", select "Gallery Avatar". You can select a different "Category" to see many different avatars. Then click in the little circle under the picture you like and click the "Submit" button.

Or better yet, upload a picture of your bull, brand, ranch logo or your own picture. Uploaded avatars can be no larger than 100 pixels high or wide and maximum 9 kB file size.

If you don't have photo editing software you can use the free online resizer http://www.resize-photos.com/. Just Browse to the picture on your computer and Upload. Change Width to 100 and Quality to around 10% and Download image to your computer. If it still won't upload to the Board make both settings even smaller.

Registered users can change their avatar anytime they wish. Any change is applied to all your posts.

If you have a problem, let me know.
 
You don't have to link to custom avatars. Just click the Browse button, find it on your computer's hard drive, click Submit and it will upload it for you.
 
Macon: i am new to this message site, pointed to it by a friend that is a regular. . . well I loaded my picture from your library. . . we are longhorn breeders. . . what a surprise to see a bull bred by my Uncle Frank Doherty. . .the longhorned bull in your library is a bull named Phenomenon and is a son of the great longhorn bull Superior and the great cow Doherty 698. . . our program is a treasure trove of my uncles breedings and so I was kind of tickled to see my uncles bull on your cattle library. . .

He's a beefy rascal, ain't he? Amuses me when people think longhorns are thin tiny little cattle. :)
 
your right jinglebob. . . the longhorn breed has shown incredible genetic improvement in the last 10 years. . . our cows are getting bigger and our top bulls are well over a ton now. . .it was just not so 10-15 years ago. . . and to boot the meat is extremely healthy lower in cholestorol than chicken and fish. . . i always thought that our industry was missing out not marketing our beef as a health food and low and behold a group here in texas is creating a longhorn beef coop to do just that. . .i think it will be a very popular beef product. . .
 
Could you find anything like a bulldog with a USMC cover on it? Or an AmTrac? I was with 2nd AmTrac Batalion of course AmTracs no longer exhist except in museums -- - - -My wife thinks I should have gone with them.

Works just fine for me, George. I made it the max size - 80x80 - and I show it to be 3.74KB. Not sure how you're trying to do it, but try uploading it directly from the image location in my Photobucket account:

1. Copy this location:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v665/Texpics/bulldog2.jpg

2. Go to your profile page.

3. At the bottom, paste that link into the blank: "Upload Avatar from a URL"

4. Click Submit

That should do it for you.

By the way, I tried looking for AmTracs for you, too. Google images has a lot of them, but none that I thought would turn out very good by the time it was resized to such a small image. But if you find something else you like, we'll make you another one.
 
Thanks, I think I got it - - - -I was trying to save it to my computer then post it and it kept getting to large but even an old devil dog can follow directions - - - - I always told my men you can't lead untill you learn proper following!
 
There's somebody in verginia that sells longhorn beef, jerky, hides and sculls out of there own store. Cracker cattle, are a close cusin to them but are a lot smaller. There was a dna test a while back that showed how all the spanish bred cattle linked to each other. Terry what do longhorn calfs weigh at birth? Crackers, about 40lbs.

Terry Brown, 53, of Rosebud, Texas passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, near Rosebud. Services will be held at 8 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the 3 Horses Ranch, 326 FM 1048 near Rosebud.
Interment will follow at the 3 Horse Ranch Cemetery.

Terry was born Aug. 10, 1954, in Bossier City, La., to Walter and Rosie Burdick Brown. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He earned his Masters of Architecture degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. in 1979.

Terry married Jean Kimball on April 2, 1977.

He worked for Robert A.M. Stern in New York and Venturi Rauch and Scott Brown in Philadelphia. He was a Fullbright Scholar in Vienna, Austria. He was recognized in the 40 under 40 and published various architectural publications.

He taught at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, University of Cincinnati, and Baylor University.

He raised Texas Longhorns since 1998 and moved to Rosebud in 2005.

Terry is survived by his wife, Jean Brown of Rosebud; his parents, Walter and Rosie Brown of Sioux City; and two brothers: Scott Brown of Seymour, Ind., and Gary Brown of Houston, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Terry Brown Scholarship Fund, C/O Enterprise Bank, PO Box, 559, Rosebud, Texas, 76570.

Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home of Rosebud, Texas is in charge of arrangements.
