Well the boy is back from the Czech, we picked him up last night. He was kinda wore out for some reason!
Lots of interesting stories about hockey and sightseeing. The children's home they visited was a bit of a disappointment because most of the older kids were at another event and there were only about 10 babies there. These are orphaned or abandoned babies and the admin tries to place them back into the care of another family member where ever possible rather than let them leave the country.
But there was one lucky little guy - he had a birthday the next day so Jeremy gave him one of his goalie sticks. Kinda made his day! He gave his second stick to another Czech goalie because they had never seen a goalie stick with the curved or offset handle like we have over here.
So those two guys are the only guys in the Czech Republic who can boast having a stick with a curved handle.
They won all four of their games and the other guys on the team said it wouldn't have been that way without some stand on your head goal tending so he did himself and us proud!
Somebody here at home asked him what the Czechs did for a living and he said he couldn't really figure it out. But every town has a brewery so he guessed that half of the Czechs make beer and the other half drink it. A one liter bottle is about $1.
It's all so different there. Like try getting used to going into a McDonald's that is in a 100 or 200 year old building? Or ordering a Tex burger and getting a 3/4 inch thick slice of deep fried cheese with lettuce and tomato between two sesame seed buns?
But they have Starbucks!
The sight seeing was pretty phenomenal and he wants to go again during the summer when the trees and other landscaping in the city squares are at their best. Prague was definitely worth seeing even though it is winter.
Apparently it was one of the least damaged cities coming out of WWII.
We don't know what old buildings are in North America! No 400 or 500 year old castles or cathedrals.
