At another site they was talking about bad bicycle wrecks when we were kids. I post one about a bad coasting wreck.
In March and April with nice sunny days and cold nights the snow crustes really hard in the mornings. We even too sleigh loads of hay on top with the team pulling.
Well every morning while waiting to get on the school bus I climb the hill behind the house and ride a sleigh down off the hill. There a chicken coop that only used in the summer up there and the wind had caused a nice big drift below almost at the bottom of the hill. Well each day I went little higher up the hill. Well one day I really went up a bit higher and when I came down when flying thru the air ,when I hit the ground the sled broke into a million pieces and I road my nose to a skinless stop. Bus driver laugh as I got on the blood was mostly on the skinless outside.

That's a good one jody..... I can imagine that one!!!!!!!!
The one I can think of right now is we would all pile on a big ten foot toboggan and climb a huge sandhill behind our house and ride down the hill and all would lay down on the sled as we sailed under a barbed wire fence.

This doesn't include a horse, but still. I was prolly 10 or 11, and the closeline was on the north side of the house. The snow drift under it was probably foot and a half from the top. I was playing fetch with the dog, and she didn't go get it so I ran after it, and SMACK!!! right into the closeline with my forehead.

When my lil brother was 4 our slide was covered with snow and ice, so being the sister I was, I pushed him down. No harm done, then the idea hitme to get teh waxed paper. I put him on the wax paper and pushed him down into the snowdrift. Wax paper on ice or a dry slide period will make you travel 3 times faster. I got my but chewed. But it was fun while it lasted. Mom saw us from the kitchen window. Yes I tried it too, and MAN WAS IT FUN!!!!!!! William was a little dazed and had a face full of snow, and then he cried so that made the matter worse.
