Bailout Backspin

According to freep.com, one of every two heavy duty pickups sold in the United States in the first nine months of the year is a Ford F Series Super Duty.

Ford sold more units than Dodge, and 29,000 units more than Chevy and GMC COMBINED.

Seems that Ford's refusal of federal bailout assistance is paying dividends. Ford stock is up, and being able to succeed on it's own has now made Ford the darling of heavy duty truck buyers.

and GM is a target for purchase by the Chinese, go figure....

The article that I read says they will own only 1%. How about swapping the public's share of GM to the Chinese for the debt we owe them. I think that would be a good swap.

They can give all of Government Motors to the ChiComs. I'll damn sure never buy another GM vehicle, and I never have owned a Chrysler/Doodge.

that might be an okay idea, but with the devaluing of the USD, the chinese are already upset about not being paid the full value owed to them.

it is ashame that Bush Administration decided to do these bailouts.

Although the US taxpayers had to bail out GM and Chrysler to the tune of $85 billion, Obama said “I knew this wasn’t a popular decision. But it was the right one.”

Mr. Obama also said he wanted to speak directly to leaders of struggling firms on Wall Street, expressing concern that some of them may not participate in a bailout program that required them to forgo millions of dollars in compensation.

“I cannot imagine a position more selfish and greedy at a time of national crisis, and I want to send them a message right now: Do not make that mistake,” Mr. Obama said, speaking at a resort in Tampa Bay where he is to begin three days of preparations for his debate on Friday night against the Republican nominee, Senator John McCain. “You are stewards, not only of your companies but your workers and your communities.”
