Ten years ago, the last place a suit would be required to enter an establishment would have been Williston North Dakota, let alone paying a $5,000 members fee.
But times have changed and now, on Main Street in Williston, a business-minded individual (who is properly dressed for the occasion) can escape the presence of commoners at an establishment known as The Bakken Club.
Katherine Lynn of The Jamestown Sun reports that since opening in December, the club has gathered 93 memberships, a mix of individuals and corporations.
Individual fees start at $5,000 for membership while corporation memberships costs $15,000. Corporate members include oil giants such as Halliburton, Weatherford and Statoil. Company associates are sure to be drawn in by the privacy of a meeting place where business deal dialogue could take place freely.
The atmosphere is intended to be quiet and private. The business environment has been used for classy shindigs by high status individuals like U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer but also workspace for local and visiting companies.
Popularity over the new club has grown so much that Co-owner Joel Lundeen will likely cap membership at 150 members. This would be enough to support the restaurant and bar but remain small enough to focus on the customer.
