Ive got about 45 heifers to bangs. They are over at another farm rite now. What is the maximum age? Seems like they have to be vaccinated before 11 months? Does anybody know?

Asked my Dad because I knew he would know......he said it used to be before 10 months of age when they used a different vaccine, now it just has to be done before 12 months. This is for Nebraska....assume South Dakota would be similiar if not the same.

I asked the vet this question last week. 12 months. Glad to get mine done. Cost $3.50 per head, mileage included.

I tell everyone I got my girls new jewelry and a tattoo for Christmas! :p :D

They must be vacinated before they are one year ( 12 months ) old by a certified vet. My Father started that program after we lost the whole herd in Nebraska in the late 70's to bangs. We have had no problems since.

(Knock on wood.)

Our neighbors just laughed at him about it down here when he first moved down, but now most of them are doing it also.

An Ounce of precaution is better than buying a Pound of (USDA) Cure.

Absolutely before 12 months. A couple years ago I missed several at a lease. When I discovered it they were 12 months and 2 weeks old. My vet wouldn't vacc. them. Said when they are vaccinated over 12 months they may show a false positive when tested which would cause you all kinds of grief.
