Barack Hussein Obama and a Fruitcake Black Liberationist

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.

Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, "The Audacity of Hope."

An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation.

Sen. Obama told the New York Times he was not at the church on the day of Rev. Wright's 9/11 sermon. "The violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification," Obama said in a recent interview. "It sounds like he was trying to be provocative," Obama told the paper.

Rev. Wright, who announced his retirement last month, has built a large and loyal following at his church with his mesmerizing sermons, mixing traditional spiritual content and his views on contemporary issues.

"I wouldn't call it radical. I call it being black in America," said one congregation member outside the church last Sunday.

"He has impacted the life of Barack Obama so much so that he wants to portray that feeling he got from Rev. Wright onto the country because we all need something positive," said another member of the congregation.

Rev. Wright, who declined to be interviewed by ABC News, is considered one of the country's 10 most influential black pastors, according to members of the Obama campaign.

Obama has praised at least one aspect of Rev. Wright's approach, referring to his "social gospel" and his focus on Africa, "and I agree with him on that."

Sen. Obama declined to comment on Rev. Wright's denunciations of the United States, but a campaign religious adviser, Shaun Casey, appearing on "Good Morning America" Thursday, said Obama "had repudiated" those comments.

In a statement to ABCNews.com, Obama's press spokesman Bill Burton said, "Sen. Obama has said repeatedly that personal attacks such as this have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they're offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church. Sen. Obama does not think of the pastor of his church in political terms. Like a member of his family, there are things he says with which Sen. Obama deeply disagrees. But now that he is retired, that doesn't detract from Sen. Obama's affection for Rev. Wright or his appreciation for the good works he has done."
"Them Jews ain't going to let him talk to me," Wright said. "I told my baby daughter that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office. ...

"They will not let him to talk to somebody who calls a spade what it is. ... I said from the beginning: He's a politician; I'm a pastor. He's got to do what politicians do."

Wright also said Obama should have sent a U.S. delegation to the World Conference on Racism held recently in Geneva, Switzerland, but that the president did not for fear of offending Jews and Israel. He specifically cited the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, an influential pro-Israel lobbying group.

"Ethnic cleansing is going on in Gaza. Ethnic cleansing (by) the Zionist is a sin and a crime against humanity, and they don't want Barack talking like that because that's anti-Israel," Wright said.

I thought you didn't watch Glenn Beck, so how the hell do you know?

He's bringing a lot of things to light because he loves this country.
He's on politicians on both sides of the aisle. You can keep this
up R2, but its not going to make one bit of difference to me.
If Beck lies, it will be found out. So far, he's brought a lot of corruption
to light and things have changed in Washington as a result. So what
are you so worried about???????????? You like our corrupt government?

OOPS, forgot, you are part of it.

OOPS, forgot, you are part of it.

I read the article I posted that is based on the biography of Beck that will be out next year. And then I read some more articles because that article piqued my interest. I wondered where Beck got the obsolete Red Scare garbage and now I know. He reminds me of someone from the Cold War in the late 50s and 60s which now makes loads of sense since that was the heyday of Cleon Skousen.

FH it's not your style to tell lies and you have just told one. You have no idea who I am, what I do, or my level of honesty. And it's not your style to be so nasty either. I suggest you rethink this.

I forgive you however.

Please go easy on her R2,she is incapable of thinking for herself.....nice lady otherwise....

This is pathetic. You counseling anyone on their postings or personal attacks. One more thing you have mighty high esteem for I doubt anyone here with a mind of their own gives a rats rear who you are or what you do.

Just because that is an obsession of you libs. Dont think for one moment anyone that posts here who cares about where this country is going cares about what you do or where you are or who you are . That is an obsession only the demwits hold.

Why dont you getthe backbone to hold our news media and Goverment accountable for their actions. That would be a start with some character.

And more appropriately, I should ask her forgiveness for having offended her.

Ten Days of Awe

Ge you might want to think or does the ten days of awe just say you must ask for one to forgive. Or does it say seek forgiveness for all offenses?

I have friends whose politics are way out there. The point is that I do not subscribe to, follow, or preach their politics. Whereas Glenn Beck does apparently believe, subscribe to, follow, and preach the teachings of Cleon Skousen.

It's more than the ASSOCIATION folks, it's the being a convert and proselytizer of Skousen's wacko beliefs.

But you can't tell the difference, can you?
Aren't you in the wrong thread? This one is about Barack Hussein Obama's mentor, spiritual leader, and long-time friend. The man who married Barack Hussein Obama and his wife, and baptized both of their children. The man credited with the title of Barack Hussein Obama's book, "Audacity of Hope". The racist, Black Liberation theologist Jeremiah Wright.

Why are you babbling about Glenn Beck?

Have the obama's found a Church yet in DC?

He was building his résumé as a street-savvy community organizer while also applying for admission to law school. Within the walls of Trinity he found a connection to the African-American community he'd lacked as a child raised by his white mother and grandparents, an important cultural marker for a biracial candidate who later would try to appeal to black and white voters alike.
