This is how we shred the corn stalk round bales. It works slick to put them in the manure spreader. We cut the bands and when we start the spreader it shreds slick. You can spread it out with your feet if need be. We just use a fork and push it where we want it.

In this part of the world they're easier to find than wheat straw. More than likely they got them right off of the farm.

i think stalks work better then straw,the urine doesnt soak into them ,it goes to bottom,and also when cleaning they tear apart and is not all matted together so its much easier and faster to clean up and around here they are cheaper then straw
