Funny you would think of that.
Did you have something burning on your mind?
I would suggest more deep discussions with your wife.

Randy what are your ideas about Vertical Integration? Do you have any specific ideas? How can you v.i. the chain without a large packer?rkaiser said:BUT NEITHER HAVE DISCUSSED MARKET TOOLS SUCH AS VOLUNTARY BSE TESTING OR THE VERTICAL INTEGRATION OF CANADIAN PRODUCERS INTO THE VALUE CHAIN AS SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM OF KEEPING CATTLE IN CANADA.

Randy said:Another angle that we are looking at is partnership with Asian companies to own slaughter capacity and have every animal meet the requirements of the country including BSE testing if so desired. This one is rather novel as it would mean cooperation with the buyer on sales requirements.
Lots of potential if we stop catering to the wants and needs of the pirates that currently control the industry and could give a rats ass if it lives or dies in this country.
I agree with all that so far. Is their some detail so I can see how you distribute premium funds up the chain or do you do that through dividends?rkaiser said:RRRandy what are your ideas about Vertical Integration? Do you have any specific ideas? How can you v.i. the chain without a large packer?
At the moment we are dealing with one of the only federally inspected plants that has started up in this BSE mess. Had a deal with the one who chose to move to killing horses exclusively lost it --- and am down to this last one. We can still use some of these provincial plants but are hoping this new federal plant, who promises us to remain custom, and nothing but, will be true to it's word.
Big picture wise however, Beef Initiative Group still believes that we could own packing capacity if we were to take a cooperative approach like the producers in New Zealand. The plant that Big Muddy and his dear wife thought would be unfair to pick as the winner over all of the plants  that were proposed when this thing first started could have been up and running by now if we had picked that winner. The plant proposal is on our website which will be up again within a few days. I'll post the site when I get hold of the web host. The basic premise is to have a mandatory levy pay for the plant or plants with that levy becoming a share in the company for every producer in this country.
