Police resumed their search Sunday morning for a Fort St. John, B.C., man who was swept away in the waters of the Pine River.

Clayton Russ, 22, was swimming with friends in the river near its junction with the Peace River in northeastern B.C. on Friday when he was pulled under the water, RCMP said. His friends immediately called 911 and a search began that had to be called off when it got dark.

Teams from throughout the Peace region are participating in the search, which includes eight boats and a helicopter.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a contributing factor in the incident, police said.

Hope they find him and that everything is OK. We lost an old family friend under a logjam in the Atnarko River in the Bella Coola valley this spring.

How horrible! My thoughts and prayers are with both of you.

When I was younger I was a lifeguard, and water safety has been an obsession of mine ever since. A friend of mine had the misfortune of being on duty one day when a woman drowned at the beach he was working at. What a terrible day that was. She was pregnant, and the first sign that she had drowned was when her preschool son said he couldn't find his Mommy. She had just slipped under the water. It was about three feet deep and there were people all around. No one saw her.

It can happen so fast, and at the most unexpected time. To this day I cannot just sit on a beach and enjoy myself. I still find myself watching the water.

That's just horrible news, Mrs. G.! I don't know what to say, sorry just doesn't seem like enough. Let us know how it turns out, I'm hoping for the good, but I don't know.......

I, myself, have a dreadful fear of the water, damn near drowned when I was alot younger. This winter I plan on taking swimming lessons, and it's going to be a challenge for me to even get into a pool. But, my husband and the best friend have gone together and bought a boat, so if I'm gonna go fishing with them, I'd better learn to swim. My theory is at least one of us should know how in case something happens.

Although we've all been praying really hard that Clayton comes home safe,it wasn't the outcome we hoped for  His body was found yesterday just outside of Fairview Alta.

Yanuck sent me this, its pretty special,my niece if going to try reading it at his service Tues.

A Child Loaned
"I'll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine." He said.
"For you to love the while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven year
Or twenty-two or three
But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want the child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over
In my search for teacher's true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you;
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?

I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, They will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
For the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

That's an awesome poem and thanks for sharing. I think I will print it out and keep it, it gives me enormous comfort, even though I haven't had to experience what your family is now experiencing.

I agree Hanta, that is a wonderful poem.

Mrs. Greg, I hope this gives your families closure, and now you can start the grieving process. Your family sure has been through a lot this year. It is said God doesn't give one more than they can handle...you all must be tough as nails.

You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

TTB

Elder Russell M. Nelson said” Death is a necessary component of our eternal existence. No one knows when it will come, but it is essential to God’s plan of happiness. Thanks to the Atonement of the Lord, eventual resurrection is a reality and eternal life is a possibility for all humane kind.”
This help , when Jody died.

There would be no sorrow in death if there was no joy in life.

The flood of memories, my prayers are with all of you.

Jody, that was PROFOUND. I'm going to copy it and keep it where I can read it more often.

Mrs. Greg, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and the young man's family.
