Hey kolon...wouldn't my mistake have been an error and not a error? Work/study....anyone "dumb enough" to say that there's reward for "being good" ought to be able to encapsulate what "being good" means. That seems pretty vague and watered down to me. The way you treat people on here is not "being good". Do you now have to try and make up for that or how does your system work?

Well movin' on you are kinda new here and you can start out being good BUT that seems to open you up for attacks !

Then you have to shift gears and be as mean as the gang and it becomes one big never ending bitch session.

If internet message boards are gods litmus test to see who goes to heaven then many on here won't be going. I'll take my chances in "real life".

Work/study, you're absolutely right. If internet forums are God's litmus test, many on here won't be going. If "being good" in real life is the test, we're all screwed...and I do mean ALL OF US. Thankfully He provided a way for all of our shortcomings to be forgiven, huh?

I am a Bible thumper. You however are the one claiming self righteousness. I am on the Christ is righteous plan. Glad you are amused. Have a good day.

Self righteous? NO. I say believe what you want. My party is not the ones trying to blur the line between church and state. Our forefathers put that in there for a reason. I do not need the 10 commandments in the courtroom, the classroom, or the workplace to know what they are to live by them. Your kind only pushes the envelope to see how far they can go to p*** people off. Fighting to put religion into governments is a waste of time and tax dollars not to mention a bad idea.

Go read some early Government documents from our founding fathers, start with Declaration of Independence and go from there. God is all over the place. Just because you choose to misinterpret the issue of Separation of Church and State does not mean the Founding Fathers did!

Have you ever read any of the Documents from our Founding Fathers? Have you ever even read the Declaration of Independence. Count how many time writers like Thomas Jefferson make reference to God.

What if there is no God?

And if on the Day of Judgment there is no God -and you have served GOD and Mankind well,- what have you got to lose?

But if it turns out there indeed is a God -- then the very thought, the question,... may yet come back to haunt you for all of eternity*.

*I am not in any way trying to use the fear of eternal damnation to get someone to find GOD, but just posing a thought in response to an age old question. I believe more in GOD's Grace to enlighten then fear.

My point is or question is,why do people defend what they really do not know.It comes across from your words Steve that you believe only those that believe in God are the only ones that can serve mankind well .I think that is an unfair statement.First off is it my job to find God or his to find me?How could a person never shown the way to god, believe in god?.Why is it so important to christians to prove God's existence?.Honestly Steve, can you guarantee that God,the bible's words of the future, and heaven truly exist?Or is it a leap of faith. Why is it when most talk about believing In God they bring up his meeting with us at our life's end,its a awesome idea but is it really going to happen? Are we really judged at death? If so,what are the end results?..

To be honest the whole thing seems to be an inner fight I have with myself. In the end I guess if I question God's existence even a little bit,I am doomed........ :? :? :(

R2 I am curious what your theologians interpret these verses to mean.

Psa 12:6 The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Psa 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

This reminds me of an old radio show that used to play in western Nebraska during the 'sixties. Peabody Hale hosted a daily program playing good country music, and every Saturday it was a "live" format featuring local musicians. After every show, his closing words were, "And may the Good Lord take a liking to you." Finally someone clarified the expression and told him, "You know, the Good Lord loves us all. It isn't up to him to 'take a liking to us' because He already does."

Peabody Hale changed his closing words to, "And may You take a liking to the Good Lord." That expression was accurate.

Nonothing, my advice to you is to read the Bible and get into the Word. It is the only truth that can be counted upon. For starters, read the book of Romans. It will answer most of your questions. Find a Bible-believing church to attend. You might be surprised at the outcome.

"An atheist can't find God, just like a thief can't find a policeman."

Mainly because neither is exactly what you would call "looking".

I believe any one can be good, morally right, and even serve mankind and not claim to believe in GOD,

but to get into Heaven, belief is required.....as well as faith...

I also believe questioning ones' Faith (or having doubt) would not exclude you from Heaven, or GOD's Blessings..

Each person believes differently during their life.

If you feel that questioning your faith is a problem the try studying "GOD's Grace" and John 3:16, and in time reading other passages to understand this, and you will in time come to accept what many of us struggled to accept....at one time or another....

Soapweed, Steve, and Red Robin....thank you for caring enough to share the truth with others. Nonothing, if there was ever a time to lay aside your differences with these three and listen to what they are saying, it is now! They are talking to you not as republican/democrat or liberal/conservative but rather friend/friend. They genuinely have your best interest and eternity in mind and are trying to help. Take their advice and then decide for yourself. It might be the best thing you've ever done!

By the way Nonothing....probably everyone on this board has that inner struggle you talk about at some point. I know I have and sometimes still do. Faith is a fickle friend and doubt is bound to show up every now and then. A lot of things can't be "proved" and faith is sometimes the only way to accept/understand things.
