So even in his attempt to support the White House and Statement Department, Dempsey only helped verify the earlier reports that help could have been sent to Benghazi, but it wasn’t. The help could have possibly arrived in time to make a difference
“The last step in a close-in PGM drop/release is for someone on the ground to laser the target. That was done. Then — no drop. Someone said ‘No’ at the last second.”
WHO SAID “NO”???
Re-read that: “…the LAST STEP.”
General Ham (AFRICOM) owned ALL AC130 and armed drones in-theater. Ham was relieved that night – by some reports, within 30 sec of his talking with Obama. Admiral Gaouette owned all FA18 in the Med – he was relieved the next day. (And contemporaneous news reports were that the 6th Fleet was offshore Libya at the time – within minutes of flight time to Benghazi.)
If those attack assets were not overhead, HOW can the lasing of the target be explained? One of the SEALs, alone, under attack and outgunned, left his machinegun to lase a target under an empty sky?

Subject: Fox First: General Carter Ham to testify on Benghazi for first time next week
Fox News has learned that the House Armed Services Committee will hold a classified briefing next Weds June 26 at 9:00 on Benghazi.
Briefers will include:
Gen. Carter Ham (ret.) He was head of AFRICOM during Benghazi attack.
LTC Gibson
RADM Brian Losey – Special Operations Command Africa
The briefing is organized by the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee of the HASC. Ham, who was the head of AFRICOM during Benghazi attack, will testify behind closed doors about why military assets that were available were not sent to Benghazi to help the Americans who were under attack.
LTC Gibson is the Army Lieutenant Colonel who was told to stand down along with other special forces who were ready to deploy to Benghazi to aid those who were under fire by the attackers.
Although the briefing is behind closed doors, the Committee's request for information from DoD gives clues as to what they are likely to be talking to the witnesses about next week. On April 17 HASC Chairman Buck McKeon (R - CA) sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel requesting the Department of Defense's classified version of the Benghazi attack timeline after being notified by the Joint Staff there would be delay in delivery, "due to a requirement to coordinate it within the interagency."
McKeon received no response which prompted a two follow up letters. The first letter on May 8 was to Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs regarding the Department's uncooperative behavior with the Committee the other letter, sent on May 15 discussed in detail the some questions HASC want to be answered by DoD:
http://frontpagemag.com/2012/dgreenfield/benghazigate-general-ham-no-order-to-protect-consulate-video/General Ham told Chaffetz that the forces were available, but that no order to use them was given.
Defense Secretary Panetta had claimed that the refusal to use force had come from him, General Dempsey and General Ham.
General Ham appears to have broken with that story and is taking no responsibility for the decision not to bail out the consulate and the Navy SEALS. There have been rumors that General Ham has been fired or forced out.
That said, Ham’s premature departure raises certain questions, as does his willingness to dissent from the official story. Panetta tried to pass the buck to the generals. General Demspey only lightly touched it. Ham seems to not want to touch it all. Since the decision was made by Panetta and possibly Obama, that’s the right thing to do.
