My idea for lowering health care costs involves reducing government, not increasing it. I believe we need to say goodbye to America's "cheap food policy" and eliminate all farm subsidies. Stop having consumers putting a down payment on certain food ingredients with their tax dollars. Allow consumers to pay the real cost of producing food and put everyone on a more level playing field. I believe we need to stop looking at ways to pay for the treatment of our health problems, and look at what is the underlying cause in the first place. Sure the lack of physical activity has a lot to do with it, but I think our cheap food policy is very responsible. You are what you eat. I feel nutrition is often over-simplified by looking only at low fat, low calorie or "points."
