I'm not sure who makes it, or what it's called, but whatever diesel engine they put in a Deutz tractor will run forever. And it's cheap on fuel too. :D

I think it's a Deutz engine. I had an old old Deutz for a while it ran so clean it could run in the shop and you couldn't smell the exhaust. Ran real cheap. I think we filled the tank once a winter,

On the above list I the ACS is probably looking towards the pick up motors. Gotta go with the Cummins. :D

My powerstroke has 260,000 miles on it, has had very, very few problems and has helped me make a living hauling cattle in 38 states. I would be crazy to choose anything but a powerstroke.

I have a Duramax and a Cummins. I like both but I am also partial to the Duramax. It runs so quiet and gets terrific fuel mileage, averaging 22 MPG. The Cummins gets about 17 MPG.

All the Best

What? Briggs and Stratton is not on the list? With fuel prices now what they are that might be the only kind we can afford to run! :p

I will always love the 7.3 Powerstroke. I had a '95 1 ton dually 4x4. I don't have a clue how many km's where on my truck when I bought it, but during the time when I had it , it was suppost to roll up to 400,000km it stayed at the 3. It was a great truck, I never had a problem with it at all. I sold it a few years ago and its still going and it was suppost to roll over the 400,000 km mark and it stayed at 3 again. I sure miss that truck  I wish I'd never sold it.
However, I wouldn't touch the new Powerstroke 6L with a ten foot pole.
The turbos blow. Everyone that I personally know that have had the 6L have had turbo trouble.

Attaboy  haha.

We've got A Duramax for the farm. Hands down the best vehicle that we've owned. The only problems we had in the three years we've had it was an interior light burned out in the cab... But I think it was covered by warranty.

What do you run for tires on yours?

We have 33" Geolanders by Yokohoma. We had 31" Bridgestones but decoded to upsize because it had so much power but was not using it turning the little tires so they thought it would enhance the fuel mileage.

I am needing to re-shoe my truck right now, not sure what I'm going to put on it. Right now it has Falken brand, extra cheap brand, tires that were new when I bought the truck used. 265R75 16", I think that's probably the original factory size tire.

Only thing I've had to replace was the left front wheel bearing. That was at about 75,000 miles.

I thought motors ran on electricity and engines were either diesel or gas. I always put diesel in my Cummins....maybe I should plug it in!

Of the ones listed I voted for Cummins with confidence.
But, I truly believe Honda builds the best motor (engine) . Their motorcycle and ATV engines if properly maintained will run forever. My HOnda Rancher has close to 2000 hrs on it. I've changed oil and filter 4 or 5 times and replaced tires and battery once and the air filter 2 or 3 times. I finally took it back to the dealer to trade it but when he wanted about $4k difference I had him tune it up. Said valves, plug everything else was good , they adjusted clutch and said it was good to go.

I also have a couple Perkins engines in tractors and I find no fault with them. They are very fuel effecient.

Now that I think about it, it may not be considered modern, but that Chevy 350 engine was a pretty darn good engine. There must be 10 million of them still running.
