JAKE SPOON: Oh, you don’t need to tie me up, Newt. Hell, I didn’t kill anybody. I just fell in with these boys to get through the Territory. Hell, I was gonna leave ‘em first chance I got!
GUS McCRAE: I wish you’d taken that chance a little earlier, Jake. A man who’ll go along with five killings is takin’ his leave a little slow.
I agree with you Loomixguy- it it insightful...This kind of fits the story of GW Bush-- and how he had good intentions but fell under the gang of neocon thieves (Cheny, Rove, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, etal) and got tied up in bad advice, their lies, and then his own lies and deceit...
Even Scott McClellan - who has a long time relationship with GW going back to years in Texas- in both his book and in his Congressional testimony says that he thinks GW came into office with the best of intentions- and truly meant to have a bipartisan working relationship, built on compromise instead of confrontation...
He said that he truly believes GW could have been a Great President- and well respected- if he hadn't chosen the road to constant confrontation and constant campaign mode (Roves doing)- which led him down the road to lies, deceit, deception, and becoming a lawbreaker....
GUS McCRAE: You know how it works, Jake. You ride with an outlaw, you die with an outlaw. I’m sorry you crossed the line.
JAKE SPOON: I didn’t see no line, Gus. I was just tryin’ to get through the Territory without getting scalped.
I agree again- the end necessarily doesn't justify the means....
Are you saying- like some of the Dems- that King George should be Impeached for his crimes against the US and the Constitution-- or like legal scholars and the international bodies are- that GW, by turning into a warmonger, leading the invasion of a sovereign nation that hadn't attacked us, and crossing the lines of US, military and international law on the treatment of prisoners and detainees should now be hung :???:
