Two more Montana residents die of West Nile
By The Associated Press
HELENA - State health officials have confirmed the recent deaths of two eastern Montana residents due to West Nile virus.
Four Montanans have died of the disease this year, equaling the number of deaths in 2003, which was the worst West Nile season on record in the state.
The latest victims were a 72-year-old woman from Dawson County and a 59-year-old man from Sheridan County. Both died in a Billings hospital late last week.
As of Thursday, health officials say there's been a total of 69 human cases of West Nile illness reported in Montana this year, compared to 228 in 2003.
