Severe thunderstorm warning for all night tonight...Storms firing up already around the state...

Looks like a really nasty one going right down the 49th- hitting places on both sides the border and headed in Big Muddy's direction....

It's coming up on us right now. Mean clouds and lots of lightening. NO rain yet. I got a bunch of hay raked up to bale when it cools off. I hope it will still be there. :?

Wind is getting up as i type this. :x

Radar looked nasty- all that purple color....Scobey got wind, hail and rain (2.5 inches)... And when this storm gets by- it looks like several more building right on or just north of the line to the west of you..

Lots building south and west of us....

Looks like its going to miss us. It is very hot here and we could
use some rain, but not the bad storms.

Strong thunderstorms will continue to erupt across Montana, the Dakotas and neighboring parts of Canada through tonight.

Two different disturbances will influence the development of the severe thunderstorms into tonight across the northern Rockies and northern Plains. Monsoon moisture over the Rockies and a surge of warm air will also help fuel the thunderstorms.

The severe thunderstorms will be capable of flooding downpours, hail and damaging wind gusts. It is also possible that an isolated tornado touches down and causes destruction.

Cities that lie in the path of the severe thunderstorms include Great Falls, Mont.; Glasgow, Mont.; Bismarck, N.D.; Fargo, N.D.; and Rapid City, S.D.

Stay safe, everyone.

Got hit with a pretty nasty cell on HWY 87 yesterday, about blew our F-350 off the road. Dropped the speed to 55. Could barely see the road with the rain and wind.
Lots of lighting. Luckily no fires.

rather nice this morning pretty cool.

No bad storms hit us- went both north and south....Did pick up .2 of rain in a couple little showers that came thru last night..

Altho its not so hot today (supposed to stay below 90) it is really muggy out today....And still have thunderstorms firing along the border and building to the west of us....

We got 4/10s but I heard lots of branches littering the streets of Big Beaver so they must have had more wind. I don't even want to go look at the hay i had raked. :(

Looks like this batch is done for now- picked up 3/4 of an inch of rain-- but them temp went from 90 to 62 in a very shorttime which makes me believe someone north of us got hit by the white reaper.... :(

Looks like this batch of storms is done for now..Talked to a neighbor about 10 miles northwest and they got some pea sized hail - again...
And it appears as there are more storms heading this way tonight if they get here...
Wife hasn't been able to come home from the hospital because of their emergency policy of keeping a Dr and Trauma team on standby as long as there are tornado warnings in the county....

One H*ll of a light show- good thing there was moisture with it....

OT that was the weirdest looking thing in your area on accuweather radar I have ever seen. It looked like it was raining over you just as that storm was coming towards you and that storm was just sucking it in.
Looked like the hail was south of Scobey. Had that nasty purple color again.

just a bit of rain and I recorded a 28mph wind gust. missed a stronger one though.

Yeah- I'm getting more and more reports of folks that got hail damage or had crops/gardens wiped out north of us- lots of hay windrows blown all over the place....Ended up with 3/4 of an inch of rain here on the river- and .2 at the north place...Main storm went right in between us- probably filled some waterholes on one of the pastures...

Looks like we could be in for another night of this- and possibly a whole week as they have chances of thunder storms predicted for the whole week... Fair week- so it figures...

Getting warm out there again-90- so I came in and was checking the days news...Looks like east of us got hit again...

And now looking at the weather bureau's radar it appears more thunderstorms are building south and west of us....

Storm rips roof off Valley County ranch house
Posted: Saturday, August 7, 2010 9:56 am

Another severe storm in northeast Montana Friday night damaged some buildings and power poles, but didn't cause any injuries.

According to Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier, the storm - weather officials are still determining if it was a microburst - blew the roof off a ranch house about 14 miles north of Nashua. Some outbuildings on the ranch also destroyed, as was an old abandoned building about three miles away.

The storm also knocked down about 50 power poles, causing power outages. There was also some crop damage.

National Weather Service officials were out on Saturday morning surveying the damages and hoped to have more specifics on the storm and the damages by Saturday afternoon.

The storm hit at about 8 p.m., but storm warnings were in effect from 6 to 9:30 a.m., Meier said.

UPDATE: Wayne and Jane Collins house- and they said that still this morning it had 3 foot high drifts of hail inside the house...Neighbors are trying to get the wet stuff (furniture, clothes, paintings, etc.) hauled out- and a temporary roof throwed on it....

Seems weird, but I remember my father in law telling me back in the 60's everytime a cloud came up it had hail in it. Just wiped this coutry flat.
Said they went to combine a neighbors place west of here and one of those clouds appeared. They went home, but left the combine behind.
Came back the next day and everything for a mile was flat, nothing left to harvest. Hail was so bad it took all the oil and fuel lines off the combine. Had to leave it there.

This year sort of reminds me of his stories about that time.

They had a neighbors place get side swiped by a twister too. The people had gone to bed and this storm came up and they went into the root cellar. Next morning they found that their car garage had been turned a 1/4 turn. Missed their house by about 50'.
2 miles from us.
